Life Sentences for Reckless Driving

In the News

Just watched the father & partner of Hollyoakes actress Frankie Jules Hough describing their pain & despair on Breakfast tv after 23 year old ALIDI IQBAL took their loved one with his reckless act of filming himself while driving at 123mph...

Not only did IQBAL take Frankie's life, he took the life of her & partner Calvin's unborn little girl Neeve, put Frankie's young son & young cousin in hospital..

It's time the sentence was increased to LIFE for such recklessness

I think he was out of control, thoughtless and spoilt. Material things and wealth in general are not evil it is what and how we use them. This man needs to spend a very long time in real poverty to even have a chance of realising what is valuable in life. A life sentence in prison doesn't give him any opportunity to pay society back for his crime. I think he should have been given a lengthy sentence of servitude to the poorest in society.

I'm sorry but l am very black and white and maybe harsh but l feel that if you know you are doing wrong you should pay heavily for it, but to take a life and live at hes majesty pleasure for however long at my expense is a laugh... A life for a life, they are probably not capable of care, love, empathy...so a lethal injection should do the trick.

Pinkspirit ....No I was really angry & not thinking straight this morning when I wrote...

Now I've thought it over & I agree with Emmawright762..

Years ago on June 14th in Sheffield a lady coming from her job at

M & S Meadowhall was hit by an out of control car driven by an Asian lad who had " borrowed " it off a relative & it was too powerful for him..

The result was a lovely family left to grieve for their loved one.

The beautiful lady was Carlene Mason, loving mummy of two young children, wife of my childhood friend Ronald, the young black lad whose church going family I grew up with for over 25 years.

When Carlene died, Ronald's lovely sister who lived on the next road to him with her young family helped out & his Mum used to travel to help out

The killer driver got a mere 2.5 years!!

Ronald went on to marry again & have two more children with his new wife who he met through church, she ended up as my neighbour 2 doors away from where I live with my partner & child before she dated Ronald.

janphoenix51 The judge is the problem not the criminal. They could have given the reckless driver the maximum sentence (which is too low anyway) and banned him for life. The convict will be out saying in 18 months' time and have a life to live.

Never an excuse to drink and drive. Personally I think the law should be zero tolerance none of this oh you can have 3 pints of lager or a bottle of wine.

"Boy racer"

That clearly is no boy, it's an irresponsible adult man.

And he only gets 12 years, that's a freaking joke. 😑

RUP.

PhilipMarc ...The sentence was increased to 15 years. Frankie's partner Calvin & her Dad Frank were on Breakfast tv today, exactly one year since IQBAL was recklessly driving a BMW at 123mph with ONE HAND while filming himself with the other. This was an act that robbed a family of their loved ones & left Frankie's 9 year old son, his young cousin in comas & her 2 year old son crying for his mummy in the back of the car..

IQBAL should be made to visit families of car crash victims as part of his sentencing, then he will realise the impact his reckless action has caused..

I remember Carlene as a lovely young lady, always polite, always had a smile on her face her husband Ronald & his family loved her so much & were absolutely devastated when that reckless driver took her life June 14th in Tinsley, Sheffield so many years ago..

RIP Frankie & baby Neeve also Carlene, wife of my childhood friend Ronald ..x

can’t see how an eternity in incarceration at the tax payer’s expense would be apt punishment - execution perhaps?
