Do you vote for your local mayor?
I don't even know who's ours is, so nope I don't vote

martinlufc5637 I stayed up all night to await the results and remember Blair's victory being heralded by the Dream song things can only get better..er they didn't. Another Labour man who turned into a soft tory.One bird.Two wings lol.
We don't have local Mayor Elections in Scotland, we have local MSP elections though. I always vote in our local elections. This is the 3rd different town we have lived in and we've always voted in the local election.

Sadiq Khan in London. I'm usually Labour but just couldn't bring myself to vote for this man nor can I abide Keir Starmer so I've gone green and independent for a while.
MelissaLee1 hahaha. A "floater" voter I think some people are called like yourself. No, I didn't vote for anyone. I am not showing my passport to vote!
jam45 I have been rooted and dedicated to my vote for over 40 years. In fact I have never not voted. I have always voted Labour but Keir and Khan just don't seem to represent the working classes for me. Not only but also ,they treated Corbyn abysmally and drove him out of the party on trumped up charges. Just as well then, that he is still very active on the front line, committedly fighting peace and justice issues. If I do float ,then it's because I feel my vote was hard fought for but it is with a sad and heavy heart that my conscience won't allow me to vote for those two. Bit of a rant lol! 
jam45 Voter ID is necessary so that they can identify and verify you, otherwise anyone can say he/she is whomever.
In the U.S. they're in favor of it (well, there are those against it as they call it "racist") while in the U.K. people are.. against? That's just illogical.
Let's say, if you're gonna drive you'll need to have a driver's license and show proof of it.
I just don't see the point of being anti-Voter ID.
PhilipMarc well i think the argument is a legitimate one as it does mean that people without id are excluded and since it costs to get any form of id in this country, a lot wouldn’t bother.
If voter fraud was a big issue i could understand the change but you never heard of any problems in this country so what was the reasoning behind the change?
The cynical amongst us would think it is to limit the number of certain groups of people (who wouldn’t vote tory) from voting.

Never bother. Here in the North Tyneside we've suffered years of neglect, We get nowt. Even when we do it's only to somehow financially serve their mates in London further.
Will vote in the GE tho, just to boost the numbers to help oust the current lot.
I've never been aware of any local mayor elections. You would think if it were something people could vote for there would be more publicity and information. Obviously the London Mayoral Election is a big thing in the news at the moment, but locally I've never heard a dicky bird about them.

I always vote and have done since i was able to. I understand why a lot of people can’t be bothered though as nothing seems to change no matter who we vote for.
jms19 I was initially in full support of Reform, but eh, it's just Tory 2.0. More of the same.
While I lean to the right, I'd have liked to have seen Jeremy Corbyn as the Prime Minister. He can't be any worse than Sunak, Johnson, May, or Cameron.
I still remember when people called Johnson the "British Trump" yeah no, not even close.
PhilipMarc i agree i wanted Corbyn to get in because at least he appeared to have integrity and would have shaken things up a bit. I’m not sure he would have fared that well in brexit negotiations but he can’t have done a much worse job running the country then the rest who got in.
Jerseydrew What??? A pointless idea. Me going to the polling station a 5-minute walk from my home, showing an ID and then waste my time spoiling the ballot paper!!! By not voting for the various political parties, they will have to choose new candidates (I think) and offer more false promises for the next election.
jam45 in theory your idea is right. Problem is the only way to get different candidates no one needs to vote. Other Problem is getting new people to stand. The system is rubbish. But spoiling the paper your voice is heard to a point.
Don’t know anything about it and have never bothered to learn so don’t see any point in voting
jjs1985 You may not know much about politics, but if you live in London you can't deny that it has a knife and shoplifting crime problem which Khan does nothing about.
Oh, and the streets are filthy. Just disgraceful.
Furthermore, while I don't agree or find Tice (my phone always tries to correct it to "Rice" 
) to be a good politician I'll admit he's right here. It's a mess.
And there's also the squatter problem, too now. That's just a fancy way of describing trespassers / home invaders.
The police? They use tasers so it doesn't necessarily mean it'll stop a suspect, heck, some have built resistance to taser shocks so it has no effect whatsoever.
It's just not safe so I do check my surroundings that no one comes at me randomly.
