What Supermarkets Sell Paella?
Ask a Question
Something I've wanted to eat, but always forget to check if the store has. Anyone know which stores have it and which one is the best (or about it)?
Asda sell a decent one from their Extra Special Range for £3.75, it's probably the best supermarket one that I've had.
I noticed that it's now went up to £4, but that's not so bad as I thought it would've increased by more
I have seen them in Sainsbury's but have never bought as I would prefer to make my own, it is so easy. I am always disappointed with shop bought ready meals.
Oooh Paella - a favourite with me!
Here’s the results of a Good Housekeeping test in 2019
We've found the best supermarket Paella!
This classic Spanish dish is always a crowd-pleaser and we’ve tested 12 to find the best supermarket version.

Johnny the first option seems to be out of stock, so I'll try the Waitrose one and Asda (as it was recommended here).
I never visit Waitrose so this gives me an excuse to.
Thanks.
Paella is quite probably the easiest of all meals to knock up yourself - in a pan , in an air fryer , an oven , slow cooker . I presume you can read , and have access to Google ? Why on earth would you need (or want ) to buy it from a Supermarket ( at 10 times the price you could make it yourself ) - Bonkers !
Golfforall Could you make the Tesco Finest Paella (£4) yourself for 40p? (One tenth of the price). I doubt I could.
What‘s the cheapest price for a bag of prawns at your supermarket? And the cheapest price for some quality chicken breast?
Johnny Oh Dear ! Have you even thought how many Paellas you could make from 1 bag of Prawns ? 5 , 10 , 15 . 20 ? plus rice and seasonings (not expensive !) . As usual you haven't thought it through ? or never cooked anything but a ready meal ?
Golfforall Answer my questions please. I don’t want to store or freeze any ingredients for other meals, nor eat paella everyday for a week. And kindly don’t be so presumptuous.
What‘s the cheapest price for a bag of prawns at your supermarket? And the cheapest price for some quality chicken breast?
Johnny I think you are preaching on the wrong website Latest Deals isn't it ? Where folks go to save money ?
I , like you have the funds to buy takeaways or ready meals as I wish . However I also have the ability to make a dozen or so currys , Paellas , Shepherds pies , Pizzas etc in a few minutes to freeze (think they call it batch cooking ) . Not only is it far cheaper but also allows you to experiment with various spices , flavourings etc .
Don't think your bosses at Latest Deals would be too pleased to hear you demean "Batch Cooking " and Freezing which these days I can understand is the norm for many LD members . The only way they can feed themselves and their families ?
So I'm sure it is in fact you who are being presumptuous and I'm sure you will apologise to those members who rely on "batch cooking" and freezing to feed their families in a tight budget .
Golfforall Please answer my original questions. Here they are again
- Could you make the Tesco Finest Paella (£4) yourself for 40p? (One tenth of the price).
- What‘s the cheapest price for a bag of prawns at your supermarket?
- And the cheapest price for some quality chicken breast?
If you can’t answer the question, or won’t, just say so, and we can dismiss your claim that "to buy it from a Supermarket at 10 times the price you could make it yourself "
There‘s no point in having a chat if you won’t answer properly - it becomes very dull and boring.
I haven't started on the price of the fresh parsley, chorizo or paella rice yet...
Johnny Are you in a different universe ? I have answered your questions and members can judge for themselves on the cost of the ingredients ? Why reply to my statement of fact by asking me to quote supermarket prices that are widely available to all .
Even when failing to make a point (known only to you !) you are trying to make a ridiculous argument (as usual) .
Tell the membership how many gms of Prawns , Rice etc are in a £4 Tesco finest Paella (which you seem to be promoting ) and ,when I have time , I will price the rice and Prawns and let you know how many I could make ( I have frankly better things to do with my time ) .
Your argument (perhaps well meant ) is lost . Any Latest Deals cash strapped member can tell you that . Why do you continue to reply to a factual statement with a request to answer a question which I have already answered several times . I do enjoy a certain amount of interaction but frankly your unwillingness to respond to my statements is tedious to say the least . Goodnight .
Golfforall You have failed three times to answer my questions.
I think that says it all. Your "10 times the price of making it yourself" claims are false.
You cannot make a similar one yourself for 40p, nor can you make 10 paellas for £4.
I rest my case
I‘m out.
I bought Bird's Eye Paella and it was really good and tasty. Will buy again.. if in stock.
I buy the Lidl's usual one they sell. But in fact they have a second type at the moment in their Spanish range I've bought last week to try.
Aldi do a nice one but it's not always there. It's great for a quick ready meal. I often make it myself as well but it's a labour of love to keep checking it until the rice is just right.
