Help - Why didn't I get points?

Ask a Question

----------

In this help article we will cover:

  • How to check your points log
  • Possible reasons you did not get points
  • You posted a deal, but someone else had already posted (duplicate)
  • You referred a friend but didn't get points
  • You posted on Facebook / social media but didn't get points
  • You posted a deal but it got changed to a voucher (or similar)
  • You didn't get bonus points in the Top Deals Round-Up broadcast

For more general information about points, please read this page.

All My Points Have Gone - I Can't See Any

If all your points have gone and you can't see any at all, please read this help guide: Help - Where Have All My Points Gone?

The first thing you should do is check your points log:

How to Check Your Points Log

  • Login to Latest Deals
  • Go to your points page
  • Scroll down until you find your points log (see below for example screenshot)

Image

Example of what your points log may look like.

  • Read through your points log and try to find the thing you think you should have earned points for.
Possible Reasons You Did Not Get Points
  1. Limits
  2. Duplicates
  3. Quality & Moderation
  4. It's not been approved yet
  5. It's not something you can earn points for

Limits

There are daily limits on what you can earn points for:

Please note - You can still post more deals, you just may not get points for them.

I Wasn't Over the Limit and I Didn't Get Points

Please contact us and we'll review your account. Sometimes our system does make mistakes.

Why do you have a limit?

We have the limit to avoid spam. Latest Deals seeks to be a community of bargain hunters where we share the UK's best deals, discounts and money-saving tips. The points is to give back to our contributors. A way to say thank you. Unfortunately, if we lift limits we get lots of poor quality posts as well as spam.

Duplicates

To avoid duplicate posts we work on a first come first serve basis. If you're the first to post a deal you get the points.

If you accidentally post a duplicate (someone has posted it already), and it gets flagged, the post may be put into moderation. Your points will be deducted. You will receive a notification to let you know.

Please note, we also ask for a variety of deals. If your post is very similar to something you have recently posted, for example, a different colour, flavour or variety, we ask for those to all be put together into one post. It may be marked as a duplicate and your points deducted.

For competitions, please note we ask for all entry methods for the same competition prize to be listed under one post.

For more information about possible reasons your post was marked as a duplicate, please read our guidelines.

Quality & Moderation

Latest Deals seeks to be the best money-saving community. Quality is a big part of this. You may lose points if your posts are spammy, lacking information, or just generally crap.

If your post is flagged and put into moderation, the points will be deducted. However, if the post passes moderation and is published you will get the points again. For example, if you post a deal and our system thinks it is spam it will automatically put it into moderation. A real person (often myself) will review it. Usually it's fine and gets published. Then you get the points.

It's Not Been Approved Yet

There are many times when posts, reviews, comments, Chat threads are not published instantly. Instead, they get manually reviewed first. You may not be able to find your post etc., until it has been approved. And, you may not get your points until it has been approved. You should receive a notification explaining if it is approved or rejected.

I Referred a Friend and Didn't Get Points

Please read this help article for more information.

I Posted on Social Media, Where Are My Points?

At present, we do not give points for posting deals and comments on Facebook and other social media channels. We give points for posting on our website, LatestDeals.co.uk. To learn more, Get Started Here.

I Pressed 'Like', Where Are My Points?

From Summer 2021, you no longer earn points for pressing 'like' on a post. We made this change because we wanted the 'likes' on a post to reflect the genuine opinion and not be incentivised for earning points. However, at the same time, we introduced new ways to earn points, such as our points checklist.

I Created a Chat Topic, Where Are My Points?

From Spring 2021, you no longer earn points for creating a Chat topic. Rather, you earn points for a popular Chat topic. One that receives a number of comments and replies. In other words, you earn points for Chat topics that create discussion. You can see how many points you can earn here.

I'm Top of The Leaderboard, Where is My Reward?

Congratulations if you are top of the leaderboard! Once a month, when the countdown clock on the leaderboard ends, you will automatically receive a points bonus. You will be able to see this in your points log (which is at the bottom of this page, if you are logged in). If you have not received it and feel you should have, please contact us.

How can I maximise my points?

The best way to get as many points as possible is to post a varied range of money-saving tips. A combination of deals, vouchers, freebies and competitions. Don't forget, commenting and marking old deals as expired also earn you points! You can see everything you can earn points for here.

Why are my comments being deleted?

If you post the same comment over and over again with the intention simply to rack up points, we may delete them and you will lose those points. The idea is to contribute to Latest Deals. Please make your comments useful and varied.

You posted a deal but it got changed to a voucher (or similar)

If you accidentally posted a deal when it should be a voucher, or something similar, it may be changed by one of our Mentors. Our system is not able to accommodate changes in points for this. The points you earned will remain the same and will not change if, for example, it moved from a competition to a freebie.

There were no bonus points available in the Deals Round-Up

To learn more about bonus points available to claim in the daily deals round-up please read here.

Hey there may be some confusion with the word 'Share' - you only get points for finding deals online, for example on Argos' website, and posting them onto our website here.

For a step-by-step tutorial, see here.

Hi Sukhi I have just checked and you have earned 20 point 5 times today for commenting and that is the limit 5 comments per day so you will get more points for commenting from tomorrow.

To see your points log please go to https://latestdeals.co.uk/points and scroll to the bottom.

As this is a personal support query, if you need more support please contact us.

Hope this helps - thanks Emma

Hello! I have a significant amount of points removed because I was mainly sharing deals from one retailer. Would you please show where exactly it says I cannot share deals from one retailer only. Why I was not informed in advance with a note or a message, but you straight ahead removed thousands of points for offers I have been sharing for days!!!! I look forward to your reply as I do not find this fair at all!!!!

For some reason I cannot get in touch with you to ask about the thousands of points you removed from my account. I checked your guidelines - I cannot see that there is a restriction not to share deals from one supplier only hence please explain to me on what grounds without any notice you removed points I've made for days sharing deals???

Teddy8 Have you tried making contact through the contact form? It may take a few days for a reply but it will get answered, probably with a much fuller explanation than commenting here.

People, be aware!!! The moment you start making enough points to get a voucher, somehow your points get removed! Sharing deals for days and someone decides you did not follow their guidelines. I checked the guidelines and I could not find any reason for thousands of points to be removed. No notice, no information and now I cannot even get them to chat to them about it. So so disappointed!!!!

Teddy8 That's very odd πŸ€”

I've only ever had points taken away when I mistakenly posted a duplicate.

As sunny101 says, use the contact form and someone from the LD team will get back to you.

Teddy8 I'm sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with Latest Deals. Thank you for contacting us via our support. In case anyone else is looking at how you reach out to us, there's a contact form here.

Our support team will reply to you in more detail via email, but a quick glance suggests you may have only been posting deals from one retailer (Wayfair). We ask that members post deals from a variety of retailers to avoid spam and low-quality posts. When deals go into moderation, you will receive a message via notifications to explain why.

However, I appreciate that you have been posting 100s of deals from the same retailer for some time now, and a large quantity have recently gone into moderation all of a sudden. I can imagine that would be frustrating!

My colleague will share more information via the support email and hopefully we can give you back some of those lost points, and get you going again posting deals from a variety of retailers.

Tom Hello, Tom! Thank you for your reply. I did check your guidelines - nowhere it was mentioned that one should not share various deals from one retailer. The email I received states: "We ask that members post from a variety of sources, to ensure that all deals being shared are a genuinely good offer!"

"We ask" does not mean it is obligatory, hence I did not break your rules. I do not understand why taking points from me when you were not clear in your rules and also why notify me now and take action immediately? Why you did not send me a note or warn me first before taking points? So many days posting offers and so much time - should I consider it wasted?

TheChimp May I ask you - when you made a mistake and posted a duplicate offer, when did Latest Deals take points off your account. It did happen to me as well, but the points were removed within 24 hours. In this case they were waiting for days, if not weeks to take off thousands of points. Why not send a notification straight away? Weird, right? Why they did not warn, send a note, but decided to remove thousands of points at once? It is very disappointing really!!!

Teddy8 Thank you for your message. I recommend you reply to our team support email who will be happy to provide more information.

In our guidelines, under Quality, you will see the following:

  • Your posts should be of a high quality in terms of the rarity of offers, accuracy of information, and from a variety of sources.

Again, I encourage you to speak with our member support and hopefully we can give you back some points and share some more tips on how to avoid this problem in future. Thanks!

Teddy8 Thank you for your chat post. In answer for your question directed to TheChimp, I'm sorry you've had a disappointing and frustrating experience. It is likely that no one noticed that you were posting deals from the same retailer every day until now. And when it was noticed, your profile would have been reviewed and a number of posts put into moderation at once. At this point, you will have lost the points (which you can see from your points log). I can see now in your points log that our member support team has already given you back most of these lost points and that they have replied to you via email with more information. πŸ‘ Again, I'm sorry that you had a frustrating experience and I hope you're able to continue to enjoy Latest Deals.

Tom Hello, Tom! Yes, indeed a team member was in touch via email and we discussed the issue and s/he looked into it. I am waiting for them also to advise how often we can share deals from one supplier - would it be 2 or 3 times per week - this is not specified in your guidelines, hence there is no way for me to know.

Thanks for your prompt action and response today.

but it says in how to earn points

Share a post 3/day πŸ˜„

Expired points 5/day πŸ˜„

Others 5/day πŸ˜ͺ

& why does the system stop working at at certain time is any1 have thees problems

also the system doesn’t let me put freebies up it says in how to do freebies so freebies that r freebies should go into giving away instead of freebies but when u put in giving away its not acceptabled but when u put up freebies with postage it doesn't work but other people r post this & it works or u have to buy something to get the free gift they say that fine in freebies its not & also where u put postage Β£ there no option on my

suga0147 hello thank you for your comment. I’m sorry there may be some confusion, or that something is broken. I hope I have understood your query right.

There are limits to the points you can earn for each action.

For example, you can earn up to 20 points for good comments up to 5 times a day. After that, nothing.

You can earn points for correct reports up to 5 times a day. After that, nothing.

So it may be you are achieving the maximum and then not receiving points afterwards because you hit the limits.

To see what you got points for, head to https://latestdeals.co.uk/points and at the bottom of the page (when you’re logged in) you will see your points log.

If you have any other questions people contact us via our contact form πŸ™‚

Thank you for your comment. On the website if you click your points number on the top right, it will take you to this page:

https://latestdeals.co.uk/points

  • Then scroll down
  • You will find your history of points

Or, on the Latest Deals app, press Menu > Points > Points History

This shows you everything you have earned points for. I can see you have earned points for commenting yesterday:

Image

In regards to earning points for 'liking', you no longer earn points for pressing 'like' on deals. This changed about 4 months ago.

Instead, if you get the Latest Deals app there is a new 'Rate' game (look for a big yellow button at the top) you can rate deals there and earn points. Read more here.

If you have any further questions please contact us via Support.
