Read this and social services didn't think to do anything when he didn't answer the door for a visit now wouldn't that mean phone the police not wait 5 days if social services did do the right thing he would still alive today

Aenurse1 It is unbelievable A , with his medical condition and only him looking after his son surely there should have been weekly checks on them both ???

And why didn't the mother call or go to check on them ?

Not knowing the full circumstances it's difficult to know who is to blame, if anyone , i hope lessons are learned from this but too late for this little mite and his dad

So sad. It really speaks to how much of society works these days - people not caring about other people 🙄

I feel stuff like this will get more common in the future as more services are cut back. I don't see why a scheme can't be setup where people with life threatening conditions don't have something that monitors their heart beat especially if they are responsible for children or vulnerable elderly adults and that monitor links through the internet to a person either relative or someone else who be told when their heart stops. Such life monitors could be incredibly cheap to make as simple electronics. It would be easy to allow a process of pausing monitoring while taking a bath etc. I think there are similar schemes already for some people but perhaps a cheaper, simpler solution should be available for a wider number of people. The same monitor would also work for people who perhaps injured themselves and unconscious as I believe the heart rate would be much lower for an extended period than a active person. We certainly need to find some sort of solution so this upsetting situation never happens again but work with the extreme cost restraints we have today.

Awful what has happened. I think it is the fault of the Police. The social worker visited the property twice but got no response so spoke with a neighbor who also tried to get a response. The social worker contacted the Police on both occasions but there did nothing. The social worker can't break in to the property. But the police can and to me there should have done this. Or contact the landlady. On the third visit the social worker again couldn't gain access so phoned the police who I think contacted the landlady to get a key. Unfortunately that's when there found the father and son. The police should have done more.

KAW18 ...This afternoon after not being able to contact our daughter at her flat my partner called Leeds Police to see if they could go around to check on our daughter after calling the company she rents her flat from to see if they could check on her as we hadn't heard from her . The police send an Ambulance around to do what they call a Welfare Check.

Luckily I managed to get in touch with my god daughter who works in Leeds & she went to check on our daughter who had slept through the day exhausted after a sleepless night, our daughter is going through a really tough time, trying to complete Uni work, up all night as she can't sleep, apart from her mobile no / my god daughter, there is no way for us to get in touch with her, we were worried sick.

We rang the police / letting company ,ambulance service ,thanked them all & let them know we had managed to get in touch with our daughter .

Our hearts go out to little Bronson & his Daddy Kenny, the social worker did try, we feel for all involved in this tragic case, truly heartbreaking. Why didn't Bronson 's mummy check on him regularly??

janphoenix51 I'm glad you got the help you needed and your daughter is ok. But sometimes it doesn't work this way. All police forces need to act when needed not just some.

As for Bronson's mummy I'm guessing she suffers with mental health issues so maybe this is the reason why no contact was made. Or maybe the break up with her ex was a bad one and she didn't want to have contact with him and couldn't phone her son as he's not old enough to have a phone and communicate directly. I guess she thought he was ok with his Dad and people would act if it was thought that something was wrong.

Yeah this is sad but not surprising as far as the council and social services are concerned, they just don't care

Its so so sad. But before children actually get into the school system it happens an awful lot more often than it ever gets into the papers. This was sadly a perfect storm. I fostered teenagers as no one really wanted to foster them. From day one this poor little toddler didnt stand a chance. We can blame the social workers but whilst there are some lazy ones - we also have a great shortage of them. The same with the police force.

It’s very sad isn’t it like you say for this Day and Age 🥹 I don’t know why nobody heard him Crying poor little boy he must have been so scared 😢 his mum said he was too short by a few inches to be able to open the Fridge or the Sink and it would have been Dark, Time after time Police will say they have referred themselves to the police Independent Office to which we know full well nothing will ever come of it, We know SS will promise to learn from this and they will make sure it will never happen again but sadly it always Does
