The New Avatar: The Way of Water Sequel Will Be Released Dec 16th
In the News
It has been a long time since Avatar came out, 13 years ago, I bought the Blu ray and still have it, and i still think it had the best 3D effects of all films i have seen
I hope the sequel will be as good as the first

Seen the trailer yesterday and it looks much better than the first movie already. The first felt like a beta/experiment and now with the second, they have polished and got technology even more advanced to achieve the world they wanted.
I watched the sequel (in 3D) over the weekend. I thought it was OK, but a bit too long - it's over 3 hours. Striking visuals help mask a fairly weak script.
But, someone in India may have sadly enjoyed it a little too much. As he is suspected of dying from an 'excitement' induced heart attack during a screening - metro.co.uk/2022/12/19/avatar-2-fan-dies-from-heart-attack-while-watching-sequel-in-cinema-17960617/
I wasn't super impressed with the original Avatar from a story perspective but the effects were amazing. I have 2 main televisions in my house both using LG's passive 3D technology although one is a Mantra model and the other a Finlux they both have LG passive 3D display panels. This works the same way as cinema 3D rather than the fast shutter glasses of active 3D devices which can cause headaches in some people. I also have a android VR headset device that allows you to watch 3D movies and that gives the best 3D effect but has a lower resolution. A bit like Playstation VR.
I do love a 3D movie occasionally. Even anaglyph movies I quite enjoy even though the colours are a bit off. You can watch lots of anaglyph stuff on youtube including the Avatar 2 trailer and you can make some 3D glasses just with some see transparent red and blue plastic maybe some Quality Street wrappers which I seem to remember I used in the past. You don't have to have a 3D TV or projector any device is anaglyph compatible if you fancy a bit of 3D and I think there are a few full 3D movies on youtube.
I have the first one on blue ray B, i thought the effects are the best i have seen yet, so looking forward to seeing the new one
I read the special effects are amazing, but not much of a story.
Then again, I didn't really like or care about the first Avatar movie. It looked great, sure... Not much else.
3hrs feels excessive for a movie that lacks a compelling story. I don't mind 3hr and 4hr movies if they're done right.
Once Upon a Time in the West is over 2h40m and I love watching it! God, that's one of the best Western movies ever made (pity John Wayne never made one with Clint Eastwood).
We love the 1st Avatar so we're really looking forward to this new one! I hope it's as good
