People Are Falling for New Parcel Scam as Fraudsters Dress as DPD Workers

In the News

Now there is another scam that thieves are using to fool people into handing over delivered packages apparently meant for another address

They obtain someones bank details then change the delivery address to that of an innocent stranger elsewhere

They then visit that address in uniform and ask for the parcel back saying it was delivered there by mistake

People have had this happen with i phones for example so one parcel could be £1,000 or more

I can imagine they are ordering high value items like phones , laptops or tvs to maximise profit

I don't think DPD would ever spend the fuel/time to come back for a misdelivered package?!

Good to know. Gives us the tools to tell them to come back with the police. If anyone has this please report to the police and don't let them in

Jerseydrew This is very, very good advice. I would have handed over the parcel if the "delivery" person was wearing a uniform. No questions asked. Thank you again.

I'd pack a box with unmentionables and give them that with a bow on. As enough we don't have enough to worry about in life without some opportunist low life stealing the little we have. Thanks for the heads up though,

Something similar happened to my husband on vinted. He collected the parcel but it didn’t contain the item he bought.

DPD won’t do anything about this either i bet. They don’t seem to care about people being scammed as long as it’s not them that’s out of pocket

I don't accept parcels unless I know I have ordered something. But if I did get someone coming to the door asking for one back I would ask for ID to prove they worked for the company and would tell them I was phoning the company to verify and then phoning the police.

MrsCraig I should have said prize singular M, i got the package with the congratulation letter inside telling me i had won it , no pre warning via e mail etc

But most other prizes i was informed about by mail, telephone or e mail before they arrived
