Presents - Would You Prefer to Receive an Item or an Experience?

I would love to know as the receiver, would you prefer to receive a physical gift e.g. A watch, piece of jewellery etc. or an experience, e.g. Restaurant vouchers, tickets to the theatre etc. ???
I would be perfectly happy with either. I think the fact someone has gone out and spent money on something for you is the important thing.
I must admit I get quite a few vouchers at Christmas, birthdays etc and it is nice having some gift cards in my purse to treat myself to things I really want. So many well meaning presents, though lovely, are not what you would buy for yourself. Family say I am difficult to buy for as I am not into jewellery, designer clothes, shoes or handbags, don't give a fig for show. How many people examine my watch to know if it is £500 or £50?
