What Do You Think of This Year's Advent Prizes?
Other
I always find it hard to keep up, what with all the normal comps too. Not sure, but it feels there are fewer this year.
Some of the prizes are quite mean. Dr Oetker is a well known brand and don't imagine they are struggling for profits but today's prize is a cookie mix!
On the other hand Ascot and DFS are so far doing fantastic prizes although my choice not to enter the 'race day out' prizes.
Others are middle of the road but well worth winning, what do you think and which are your favourites?
I’m hoping my husband collects my free Boots no7 mascara today. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed he remembers.
Pjran my daughter went for hers today. Missed out, she was told they all went in two hours.
LyndaSarrington oh that’s a shame. I did see on Facebook that some shops allowed people to choose another one.
I totally agree they are not as good this year. Also I struggle to get them all in plus the normal daily ones
sallylester1 I like Ascot, Sainsbury's and DFS, they are all worth winning. I quite like trail finders as many of the short breaks are a doable distance from me.
Leannexxx they are usually things like hampers and other gifts that will be delivered. There have been some in the ascot one for days at the races with lunch etc but most are just prizes. The Sainsbury one is good this year.
I don't enter anything that involves travel more than 2 hours or less from home.
I'd still be pleased with a small win, but I must admit I'm disappointed M&S aren't doing their calendar on the app this year
Morrisons has a good one this year. I was most surprised. I have won three things so far, the other days were just so much percent of certain things.
LyndaSarrington I have seen lots with offers rather than prizes, as you say a percentage off, I think it's a bit mean as lots of people are gullible and will buy something even if they wouldn't normally.
I don't bother with most of the advent comps as there's way too many of them and I enter loads of comps already as it is. Comping should be enjoyable not stressful.
And I agree with you about some of them being mean. Some of the advent comps give out vouchers, usually something ridiculous such as a 10% off voucher on a £200 spend or something. If you have to spend money then as far as I'm concerned it isn't a prize.
RegularComper91 ...Totally agree with you ,I gave a donation to our local Radio Station Hallam FM ( Now Hits Radio South Yorkshire )
on my way through Sheffield Centre after work a few years ago.
I was persuaded to enter a competition..
The next day on my walk to work I got a call telling me that I had won ..
The prize was a photoshoot at a studio near Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield,so I took my daughter & we did a Mother & Daughter photo shoot.
Afterwards when we looked at the photos the package was over £1000, My daughter & I narrowed the photos down & I finally paid £400 for the photos on a disk and two photos, including my freebie photo. My partner gave me half the money when I told him after he picked us up & asked how it went.
One photo is on display ,freebie in a drawer & the others are stored away in the disk & will probably never be seen..
janphoenix51 this has been a marketing ploy by photographers for a long time. I won once but when I looked into it the set up was the same. Basically make-up and one free photo, I didn't go!
Also won a voucher £200 curtain and blind prize many years ago. When they phoned it was something like a £1200 minimum spend.
I've only done about 8 of them this year. I'm not seeing them coming up on my FB feed and haven't been on Instagram. I've been too busy to even look for them. But some of the ones I've seen haven't been great so don't feel I'm missing much.
I only know of a few , but not much hat this year. Saying that I got one for Robert dyas ( electric throw ) to have as backup then mine broke so was a bonus getting it half price.
