Tips for Getting through the Cold...

Money Saving

We are in a cold snap this week and energy price have gone up again 😞

Here's some tips/advice to stay warm and if you have any more, drop them below👇

❄️Layer up! Put thick socks on with a pair of slippers, add a jumper (or 2) and gloves really help especially if you are working from home like me

🔥 Cosy up under blankets on the sofa

❄️ Hot water bottles are your friend! Check the expiry date on yours though to prevent a mishap.

🔥 When you can afford to, having your heating on will help not only keep you warm but can help prevent damp and mould issues.

❄️ If you can afford a heated blanket, it's cheaper to use that than have your heating on.

🔥 Try to have a hot meal every day - the NHS says this will help keep you warm aswell as hot drinks.

All great ideas and most I have been doing for years. But my best one is to go away in the winter. I am lucky to be able to do this but I never go away in our summer months.

If you have a microwave a wheat bag is safer and cheaper than a hotwater bottle, it's also easier for arthritic fingers.

Frequent drinks of cool boiled water containing a mix of honey lemon and ginger, also layer up and get into bed to sweat out.

Couldn't agree more!

Any citrus fruit will do the trick & it boosts your immune system as well.

Which eventually helps to reduce the way we are getting cold & sneeze.

Cheers for sharing this tip 👍🏼

Always make up a flask of your favourite drink & keep it with you, that way you're keeping warm, having fluids & not boiling a kettle every time you need a drink..

A good one is to go for a 20 minute walk, it's a win win. fresh air, fitness, raises the heart rate and temperature and takes a while to wear off once back home.

Honestly I bought an electric blanket years ago on sale from Amazon and it is the best purchase I have made. Not only has it gotten us through the cold, it also got helped get me through kidney stone pain as well as a back injury! 🙂
