How is this calculated?
Looking only at deal posts (not other post types) a score is calculated based on the popularity of deals.
Aww thank you for taking time and posting this topic just seen didn’t receive any notification again thanks for choosing us all
Where are the points again? Do all deals posted in a week count. For instance if someone posts 50 deals in a week will all the points count.
Is the popularity of the deal people actually clicking through to the retailer to look at the product or just up voting the deal on the latestdeal site? When I rate 25 deals on the site I typically vote up maybe 6 deals and vote down 19 as poor value or not a deal. I wonder what other people's ratios are. I've had it once where I only voted up on one deal and 24 down because they were fake deals or poor deals. Other times I've voted more up than down.
BonzoBanana I don't bother rating "deals" as the site refuses to take into account any -ve votes , so every single deal ends up with a healthy +ve rating however poor it is . I regularly scroll through the site and I would be hard pressed to find 1 "real deal" a week in my areas of interest .
So in answer to your question I would be hard pressed to find 1 good deal out of 25 , far more likely to find 25 "non deals" or duplicates out of 25 . Sad but true .
BonzoBanana i’ve always wondered what you’re supposed to be doing in the rate part. I typically downvote most of them because i don’t want them in my liked posts section.
intherealworld I'm exactly the same the site doesn't seem to filter the good deals away from the terrible deals you literally have to look at all the deals to find real deals which is very time consuming. If I search for a microwave oven for example I might see 6 non deals, one fake deal (more expensive than normal) and perhaps one actual deal with a reasonable reduction. In this way Latestdeals is far inferior to Hotukdeals which is a shame. I personally would never vote up a non-deal or fake deal. So much Amazon stuff on here which is falsely described. I try to warn people about terrible deals in the comments and why they are terrible.
BonzoBanana Sadly true , for the vast majority of members this is just a voucher earning site . Any old non deal will earn points so there is no incentive to post good deals and it shows . Just click and paste 3 non deals a day from Amazon , a Supermarket , Argos , Boots etc - job done , How members claim to have saved money using this site beats me (do they really believe Amazon's fictitious "reduced from" prices ?) .
Latest Deals will not moderate out poor deals so let members decide ? Just display nett -ratings instead of ignoring -ve votes in the rating.
I'm sure this would help members realise what is a good deal and what is not thereby improving their contributions.
