Aliexpress Wrong Address Scam!

Other

I recently bought quite a few items from Aliexpress and on 2 items I was scammed. Basically they send to the wrong address. Aliexpress are now auto-confirming orders if they reach delivered status but of course these items are delivered to a completely different address. They probably just send something of extremely low value to some random address not sure. I've managed to get Aliexpress to investigate and refund these items but I'm sure some will forget what they ordered and perhaps never contact Aliexpress for a refund especially if they have ordered a lot of items and may not miss a single item.

So you need to be careful. I've never had such an issue with a 'Choice' item on Aliexpress it would be always from another independent seller who ships themselves a bit like a marketplace seller on Amazon.

So be careful now that Aliexpress is auto-confirming orders themselves based on tracking indicating being delivered means this scam is far easier to do now. Why Aliexpress can't check the delivery address is the same as the purchase address I don't know. My order was delivered somewhere up north, hundreds of miles away from my address.

I also had the issue that a parcel was left with the neighbour and no card was left. Royal Mail tracking wasn't working and so only realised the parcel had gone next door 4 or 5 days later when Royal Mail tracking started working again. I got that parcel no problem but still it was auto-confirmed without me actually having the parcel.

So now I have to find another Ryzen CPU to replace the Ryzen I never received.

Aliexpress Black Friday offers tomorrow so you maybe ordering from them. Be careful.

There are many reasons I would never even consider buying from Ali express , I would need a couple of pages to list them all . Thanks for giving me another reason for keeping them firmly on my "ignore" list .

Thanks for the heads up, the problem with buying online is how the courier is allowed to verify that the item has been "delivered." I got scammed myself as the DPD driver took a photo outside of the shop where my parcel was supposed to be dropped off at. Apparently a photo outside of a shop is proof of delivery and it was me that was out of pocket.

jms19 when you collect it from the shop it has to be scanned again. I wouldn't let seller fob me off. From who you ordered?

Never had a prob like that, but with a recent return claim they were being stubborn on accepting it and they did (not sure why it took so long).

Since they just told me to keep it I'll just list it on eBay for someone to buy (controller arrived with broken analog sticks so needs to be replaced and I don't care about doing it myself).

PhilipMarc Most of my issues with Aliexpress are non-arrival. I did have a few damaged items over the years which were refunded. I've had to invoke Paypal's protection on occasion as Aliexpress customer service was non-existant or they just refused to refund for non-arrival of goods without any sort of reason. It was just a lottery whether they would do the right thing or not. However paypal always sorted out these issues.
