Gnome Napper Exposed after 48 Years Thanks to Vernon Kaye...Yesterday

In the News

Yesterday I saw the news item about young Arthur 15 & his 5 year old brother Colin who kidnapped gnomes ..48 years ago & were exposed by their cousin on Vernon's phone in..

When I was a young girl growing up in Sheffield across from the Northern General Hospital my friends & siblings went "back creeping"over people 's gardens to see how far we could get & I took a gnome as a joke...

After failing to get it back in the garden I took it from I gave it to my Nanan & it had pride of place in her garden til she moved.I tried to take it back but the new home owner claimed it as we hadn't taken it first time round.

In November 2009 after my mum passed away her brother came to stay from his home in Cape Town where he lived for Mum's Funeral & during a conversation about him being born & bred in Sheffield & his childhood friends & where they ended up it turned out that the Gnome I had stolen & lived in his Mum's garden for years was my Uncle 's childhood mate's!!

Please forgive my childhood prank it was ONE gnome!!

Any childhood pranks any of the Latest Deals Community want to " Fess up" to??

When I was younger I knew someone and don’t ask me why but they always used to take the car aerials 😂 one of the most stupid things I’ve seen someone do

It's amazing how things turn out. I think we've all done things that seem like a laugh when a kid or teen, that in hindsight we probably aren't proud of.

jms19 ...I have to say my late Uncle was filled with uncontrollable laughter when I told him what I had done, he was always a joker & saw the funny side & said his friend would too...

I like it when your missing gnomes send selfie postcards from foreign climes.

Pjran , Well it was nearly 48 years ago!

Imagine what ransom today's children would demand before giving the garden gnomes back to their rightful owners!!

Cute story, had to laugh when I saw the report from when the gnomes first disappeared....Only to end up together on a roundabout in Southport the place they were from!!

Gnome owners taking part in an Identity parade!!!

janphoenix51 I just love the fact that Arthur didn’t want to be on camera retaining some secrecy to the story.

Your story is so funny. It's not right but it's also kids. Kids do stupid things.

We've all done silly things in life

janphoenix51 honestly? Both are funny. Whenever you hear stories of kids pulling silly stuff like this you have to see the funny side even if you are tough on the kids to their face

They make some good gnome movies too, some should be gnominated for a gnoscar, gnome alone, sherlock gnomes, gnomeo and juliet to name a few 😀
