Help with a Christmas Gift Please
Ask a Question
I will be meeting my daughters, boyfriends Mother on Christmas Day. Never meet or spoken to her. I will like to get a gift but not the usual chocolate, smellies or candles. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
My go to gift if I don’t really know someone is a plant. M&S sell lovely poinsettias and orchids which are easy to dress up with just a bow.
- Pjran A plant maybe an idea, more an inside one than out as I have no idea if she has a garden, something to think about.
eyeballkerry I don’t know if M&S have amaryllis bulbs planted but I had one last year and it was absolutely beautiful. I think it came from B&Q.
I always love a candle or a plant, or bunch of flowers. That’s just me personally. Maybe do something homemade? Like cupcakes…
PayItForward I personally do not like fresh flowers but a pot plant maybe something to think about. Wasn’t sure on candles but I did some on offer in Tesco the other day.
Buying a gift for someone you know will be difficult at the best of the time but buying for someone you don't know can be a task, you could ask your daughters boyfriend what she likes and take it from there.
alternatively you could get her a boxed frame pebble people gift made representing your 1st meeting, if all goes well it could be an excellent gift. You Can Customise It To Your Own Spec.

pato I did have a look at the link. They are very different but not quite what I’m looking for. My daughter is into crafts and would be able to make these so in the future a great idea
A nice scarf always goes down well. A Woolly one for outdoors or a lightweight silky one which can be worn as an accessory.
Lynibis This is something I would appreciate and a bit more thought has gone into it. Need to find out from my daughter if it would be something she would wear.
Firstly find out from your daughter if the mother likes a drink and give a bottle of wine/baileys/prosecco, i'm sure one of them would be pleasantly accepted.
HEDGEHOGS I personally don’t drink but I know people that do appreciate a nice bottle of their favourite tipple, I need to find out more about her
Usually plants or flowers are well accepted. You can get something that symbolises unity (I looked it up and Hydrangeas is a symbol)
If you’re 100% not sure maybe just grab a one4all voucher or something like that? Gives her an option then
Candle set? Alcohol (providing they drink) maybe do an hamper and fill with stuff like candle, bath sets, pampering, small bottle of Prosecco and stuff like that depending how much you wanna spend
KateGriff169 I am liking this idea. Then I can purchase small items and hopefully she will like most of them.
eyeballkerry I know you originally said not candles, chocolate etc but I think a small hamper with a mixture different items then gives a variety instead of focus on just one thing
KateGriff169 I did say no to candles and chocolates but now you have me thinking about a mini hamper I will probably do something like that , cheers.
eyeballkerry I mean if you didn’t wanna do them you could still do a mini hamper with other items. Small bottles of wine, Prosecco etc, slippers, bath robe, pyjamas. suppose it all depends what your budget would be for it
eyeballkerry but I do think a mini hamper with chcolactes, small candle, gift set etc is a good idea with a different variety of items
