McDonalds Monopoly - a Bad Idea?

Other

With all the news about the obesity epidemic, is it really a good idea to encourage more people to eat fast food with this annual campaign/competition?

I personally think that it’s the individual‘s responsibility, and it certainly doesn’t make me more likely to buy fast food. But I guess there are people who may buy more u healthy food as a result? So maybe it’s best not to have such promotions?

You can eat salad in McDonalds and one of them is on the saver menu. I usually get it. Luckily McDonalds is not near by so not going there everyday.

I think the main problem, that it is cheap. You get a Burger for less than a pound, Cheese Burger 1 pound and Happy Meal for kids is 2.69, something like that. It includes a toy too, so the kids love it. My daughter calls it Happy Place, even she does not eat the burger, just eats the chips.

I used to work near to McDonalds and I saw a lot of new mum there with small kids. This is what they can afford when they need some fast food. Lots of them leaves their job, because it is not worth to work full time when u have a baby. Childcare cost is too high compare to minimal wage. These people still want to go out and there is no ultimate healthy food place where u pay 1 pound for healthy meal, but could be.

Vegetables are very cheap, but people do not like them much how they are. But someone could come up a healthy burger chain, with cauliflower burger...etc and veggi burger, just grind the veg and spice it and bake it. And it needs to be a franchise to fight these unhealthy giants. Also these big companies can buy veg from farms, so for them the 1 pound veg will cost 14p. I think it could work.

I agree, it just takes the effort to create something healthy on a mass scale to appeal to the mass market, and voila. And there’s no better time to do it than now

Wow I think you’ve got a new business venture covered - you’re onto a winner! 😋

hspexy I saw once in the TV that farmers are trowing away a lot of parsnip....tonnes of if...supermarkets are selling them so cheap too, but farmers do not get that money for them and some can not go to sale because they are wonky so not getting into class. They could still make something out of them...soup...they also can freeze them

AgnesFaludi it’s so sad when I read about that, or when farmers allow their fruit or veg rot because it costs them too much to harvest, as they may not get the margins they want. It really makes me want to drive to those farms and start harvesting! I’m just glad more companies are working to getting wonky veggies out in the market to help, as I‘d buy and use

I totally and utterly agree but all they care about is making money so anything that helps to sell more of their product they will happily promote.
