What Platforms Do You Use to Sell Things Online?
Feedback
I hate eBay, and Amazon were ok but charged too much. Then I tried preloved but they don't get much traffic. I have had lots of alerts from FB about selling on their platform, but not sure if they are any good? I know they have the reach, but it is also a privilege they charge you for!
Gumtree and the Facebook marketplace I tend to use.
They are both free and have a wide audience
For quite a while I was using Gumtree but wasn't getting any luck. Managed to get the odd sale from using Facebook and I'm just trying to get my head around eBay with optimism! But if you're not too keen on eBay or Amazon, but if your wanting to start sellin online, I highly suggest using Facebook. Theres many groups along with Facebook Marketplace.
thanks. yes the marketplace for FB has definitely grown - I first tried it in 2013 without much luck, but I can imagine it's more popular than ever now
thanks, I think I will. It has been a long time since I tried on FB, but I know it has been revamped, and it definitely has a good reach, so worth giving another go
I have never gotten round to selling online but would like to do so if it were easy and cheap. I also would not like having to post stuff to buyers so would like a local site where people collect, make sure it's what they want before taking away.
same here, I prefer to do things perhaps more within the community, so it saves the hassle of shipping and postage fees, as well as the possibility you get scammed
Try Facebook, Gumtree, preloved, schpock and vinted. All free to use. Never sold anything myself but these are the ones I've heard are most used.
thanks. I have used preloved and the hit rate is not very good, but most of the people who get in touch are honest and genuine - the same cannot be said of some of the other sites, where I know people who have had terrible experiences
hspexy like I say I've never actually used any of them except for Facebook, so I have no idea how good they actually are. It is awful to think that you don't get genuine people on these sites
I sold a few things on ebay last month and then realised the money didn't reach my account. I'm still trying to sort it out.... The buyers did pay but it didn't get transfered to my paypal. Doubt I'll use it again.
that was one of the reasons I stopped using eBay - for me, they were rubbish, the customer service reps I reached out to were completely unhelpful and useless, so I thought there was no way I wanted for them to make money from me
