Do You Wrap Leftovers in Aluminum Foil ?

Ask a Question

I don't know about you but i use aluminium foil for almost everything

Wrapping cheese after cutting slices off, for sandwiches, and occasionally for leftovers from my dinner to have later

I even freeze wrapped foil items

But according to this article it is very risky to do this

Because the foil is not airtight as with plastic containers it says you can get food poisoning from wrapping it this way

The air can contaminate the food wrapped in foil with staphylococcus bacteria, for instance , especially if the food has been handled

It also says not to wrap food still hot, and to keep it wrapped in foil no longer than two days

I will definitely be revising my way to wrap food now , will you ?

Majority of the time I do but there’s times where I just genuinely can’t be bothered and whack it straight back in the fridge on a plate

I have got reusable thick plastic bags that I use for certain things but recently purchased a machine that seals the bags which is really good and takes the air out.

I put leftovers in plastic tubs or food bags. Most cheese is in the wrapping it came in if it seals

I often use tupperware for left overs. The warnings are a precaution

Usually anything I wrap in foil will be used within 2 days unless it's something like an onion. I've not got ill off doing this yet so plan to continue

I don’t use foil to wrap food. I either use cling film tightly or sandwich bags tied up tight. I do use it to wrap and cook salmon in though.

We tend to use cling film or have containers for them. We only use aluminium to cook with in the oven

hspexy ...I use cling film as it wraps easier than foil & costs less but the amount of people who are coming into our service who I work with use foil..

Foil is for use in the oven I say but they don't listen !!

I rarely use foil, instead I’ll pop things in a sealable container or use Clingfilm.

We've always wrapped up food items in foil or cling film so guess the damage may already be done.

Firstly I box everything up in tubs with the product name & date I cooked it, rest of time I use clingfilm . A lot of people with learning disabilities & elderly people find clingfilm hard to use though..

I personally do not like left over cooked food, when you warm it up it tastes & smells weird, my wife does though, from I've seen in the fridge, cling film on a plate

I do tend to use foil for my leftovers. Oops oh well too late now. However I have just purchased some of those silicone bags to use for leftovers.

I have a collection of Pyrex containers with lids (roughly 6 x 6") which are ideal for leftovers, to store in fridge or freezer. Depending on contents they can then go in oven. I make several lasagnes or cottage pies to freeze for single meals in them.
