Ritter Sport is a Delicious Chocolate Product
Ritter Sport is a company of chocolate and sugar confectionery. In the year 1912, Alfred Eugen Ritter and Clara Ritter started it. The foundation of Ritter Sport was laid in Stuttgart- Bad Cannstatt. Its first product, chocolates were made and sold here itself. Later this company introduced its own brand in the name of Alrika.
In the year 1926, there was a need for the company’s own truck, which was later bought. After this year due to more production needs the company had to shift to Waldenbuch. Ritter's Sport Schokolade is the name by which the company is currently known. This name was launched after one of the owners suggested the creation of a chocolate bar. This bar needs a design that will fit without causing any harm inside any sport jacket pocket. Other than this chocolate bar there were plans for long bars, Easter and Christmas items.
During the times of emergency of World War, there was a shortage of cocoa and other raw materials. In this situation, the company had to go through a bad patch. To add to the problems, as Alfred Ritter did not join the NSDAP the company received no more allocation of its ingredients. As a solution to recover from the problems, the company decided to concentrate on non-cocoa products. They started with the production of fondant, jelly items and refreshment sticks. The World War came as a shadow of darkness for the brand. Though the War started in 1939 it did not shut down immediately thereafter. There was very minimal production during this time of War. World War II made a huge impact on the company as they had to stop production entirely, though temporarily. Many other companies around the place occupied the factory for a limited time. Immediately after the war a company named Ries & Hezel even produced toothpaste in this factory.
During the denazification by the allied forces, Alfred Ritter was appointed as an acting mayor in Waldenbuch. He was in office as the mayor for a period of one year.
The company resumed its production in 1950. This was not the end of discomfort for the company as the owner Albert Ritter died in 1952. His son Alfred took over from here. During the 1970s there was a change with brighter and colorful packaging for each flavor. In 1978 Alfred's son passed away. Marli Hoppe-Ritter and Alfred T. Ritter, third-generation Ritters, inherited the business. The change in ownership never saw any downfall in the business of Ritter Sport.
