Hints & Tips

  1. Get an annual pass if you're a local animal aficionado. It pays for itself faster than a cheetah on a car chase, saving you loads on repeat escapes to the animal kingdom.
  2. Visit offseason if you fancy shorter queues more than a sunny day. Not only do you dodge the crowd, but ticket prices often drop like a clumsy giraffe, making it a bargain time to explore.
  3. Pack your own nibbles. Unless you’re as keen as a kingfisher for overpriced sandwiches, bringing a picnic can save a lion’s share on food, leaving you more quid for the gift shop.

Buyer's guide

Visiting London Zoo, located in the heart of Regent's Park, offers an engaging experience for both children and adults alike. With over 650 species, it is a place where animal lovers can indulge in the wonders of the animal kingdom. Before heading off, savvy visitors should seek out discount codes and vouchers, which are often available online or through partnership deals. Saving on entrance fees means more to spend in the delightful cafés and gift shop. London Zoo prices vary, with off-peak tickets being more wallet-friendly, and children under three entering for free. Members also enjoy complimentary access, making membership a cost-effective option for frequent visitors.

Additionally, planning your visit can significantly enhance the experience. Free talks and feeding times are scheduled throughout the day, providing fascinating insights into the lives of your favourite animals, from penguins to lions. It's worth checking the zoo's website (zsl.org) before your visit to bookmark these events. For those looking to make their day extra special, experiences like being a zookeeper for the day, though pricier, offer an immersive look into zoo life. Remember, last entry times can vary by season, so verify beforehand. Bringing your own food can also save money, as café options, though plentiful, can add up. By leveraging these tips, your trip to London Zoo can be both memorable and economical.

What our expert thinks about London Zoo...

Shopping at London Zoo presents a unique opportunity for those looking to support conservation efforts while enjoying a day out. Prices at the Zoo's shop may not always competitively match online or high street deals due to the nature of the institution supporting wildlife conservation projects. This means that while shoppers might pay a bit more, their expenditure directly contributes to the well-being of the animals and various global conservation efforts, making it a mindful choice for those who value ethical spending. It's important for potential visitors to weigh the cost against the moral and educational benefits provided, setting London Zoo apart from other retail experiences.

This review is about the LOndon Zoo ZSL shop. I ordered 2 items to be sent directly to the recipient as a Christmas present. After receiving an email stating my order had been dispatched, I received a message from PayPal indicating the main item had been refunded. So I contacted ZSL who blamed their computer for the error and said an email communication was due to be on the way to me. The postage I paid cost more than the item in my order that has been sent. Dreadful customer service.

Ive been a few times with my wife and children here and the work they do at zsl is truly amazing . People have there views of zoos but I also have the belief that without zoos there are truly horrible people out there which see animals as a route to make money out of the suffering of these poor animals . The protection provided for them and the way they are looked after is a wonderful thing . So glad its reopened now after lockdown as I was genuinely worried for the future of many zoos.
