Cheese & Onion Toasties Made In The Oven & Not Using A Sandwich Maker!??
Ask a Question
I've just seen this recipe for doing toasted sandwiches in the oven instead of using a Toasted Sandwich Maker, 8 sandwiches in 7 - 12 minutes I think, I thought, what a brilliant idea, get them done in one go without messing about with a machine, but I wondered, would the taste be nearly the same, so I also wondered, has anybody here actually made them this way?
Wondering if it would work under the grill, could still do several at a time just turning once.
That's a great idea too Imnotcheap , sometimes it's too easy to think of the obvious! x
Jo, perhaps it's the shortcut gene in me but I now toast the bread in a toaster and melt the cheese and onion etc in the microwave and pour it on. I need my cheese thoroughly melted and the onion a shade past raw.......
I fry my toasted sandwiches a few minutes on each side and they are done to perfection - without the really hard edges you get in the machine!
Yes, I've done that myself tumblespots , they come out lovely don't they, shame you can only do one at a time though, unless you have a few frying pans on the go at the same time of course x
