Latest Deals has worked with My Housing Disrepair Claim to show you how to claim compensation for poor housing conditions.
If you're renting a council or housing association property and your landlord hasn't repaired issues, you could claim up to £3,000 in compensation. The issue could be leaks, mould, issues with heating or electricity, or anything else in the property. Landlords are legally required to ensure their properties are safe and hygienic so if they are refusing to fix issues, My Housing Disrepair Claim can help you to claim compensation and ensure the issue is repaired.
Use the form to do a free eligibility check. You can select the issue that needs repairing, your name, contact details and more information about your situation. This includes a checklist about your tenancy types, where you live, whether the issue has been reported and more. A specialist assessor will then contact you to discuss your claim. They can offer you free expert advice and work on your claim on your behalf to fix the repairs.

Surely if your renting it should be your responsibility to keep the place clean, and not let eg mould become a problem

ajsgeneral building mould is usually a sign of damp or bad air circulation so is the responsability of the landlord or council.

ajsgeneral Mould can be a big issue with older, rundown properties that keep getting leaks, for example. That would be down to the council or landlord to fix and if they do, a lot of the time they will fix the leak and remove the mould but not deal with the overall issue of whatever keeps causing the leaks. So the property will continue to keep growing mould and at that point, it's not safe for anyone to live in.

This is great. Wish you could get compensation for noisy neighbours. My council have said the noise level is unreasonable and at unsociable hours but say there is nothing they can do.

My Nephew's place is totally unsuitable for him, it's a house turned into two flats..Our C 29, has the TOP floor & an open plan patio on front & a lad he was at school with the bottom floor with a nice garden with hedges all around & plants in . My nephew isn't allowed by the landlords to hang his washing out on the back garden & he's not hanging it on the front for passers by to pinch so has to have the radiators on costing him money he cannot afford..
The place is damp, my nephew finds it hard to climb the stairs due to Cerabal Palsy & Arthritis..
