The final match of the 1988/89 season was a hotly contested clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at Anfield on 26th May 1989. Going into the match Liverpool were top of the table, three points ahead with George Graham's Arsenal needing to beat Liverpool by two clear goals to take the title back to Highbury - a task most people thought was beyond them. Graham changed tactics for this meeting with a 5-4-1 formation going into the game. With an Arsenal side captained by Tony Adams, they defied the odds, taking the lead through Alan Smith's header before Michael Thomas wrote his name in club folklore with that famous stoppage-time strike. Football just doesn’t get more dramatic than it did on that famous Spring evening at Anfield. After an 18 year-wait, Arsenal were back at the top of English football. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this historic achievement, we have created a limited-edition badge set of all the players involved and presented in the 5-4-1 formation George Graham adopted on that iconic night. A truly special gift for any Arsenal fan.
