I thought it would be good to remind or let people know that if you are in the NHS, the forces, or the emergency services you can get a "Blue Light Card" which costs ยฃ4.99 for 2 years which entitles you to loads of great discounts and free things as a reward for helping everyone out.
You can get one if you are employed in UK's Emergency Services, NHS or Armed Forces, 4x4 Response, Ambulance Service, Blood Bikes, Border Force, British Army, Cave Rescue, Community First Responders, Fire Service, Highways England Traffic Officer, HM Armed Forces Veterans, HM Coastguard, HM Prison Service, Immigration Enforcement, Lowland Search and Rescue, MoD Fire Service, MoD Police, Mountain Rescue, NHS, Police, Red Cross, Reserve Armed Forces, RNLI, Royal Air Force, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Search and Rescue, Second Line Responders, Social Care Workers, St Andrews Ambulance, St John Ambulance and UK Visas and Immigration.
They provide discounts both online and you also get a card which you can use on the high street and for leisure (When this is all over)
Loads of businesses give discounts and the list is growing all the time but include Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Alton Towers, EE, Starbucks, Haven, Go Outdoors, Frankie & Benny's, Cineworld, Heinz, Hotpoint, P&O Cruises, Vision Express, Rent A Car. ASOS, Nasty Gal, Foot Asylum, Pizza Hut, Superdry, Dell, Swan, My Protein, Bloom & Wild, New Look, BoohooMAN and loads more.
Also free tickets to theatres and events too so it is well worth getting a card if you qualify for one.
This card can also be used at McArthur Glenn Designer Outlets too. Take your Blue Light Card to Customer Service and they give you a discount card and you can get an additional 10% off in outlet shops. The card they issue you with is date stamped so each time you go you need to get another card.
kylosMum yes you just have to locate Customer Service. I use Cheshire Oaks. The Customer Service is close to Gap.
I have had mine card for years the cost of it paid itself in 2 purchases. I have saved quite a bit over the years. I even found some car insurance will give discounts or give your breakdown cover for free
I use mines frequently along with TopCashback and have saved a fortune for things I was already buying. They have an amazing selection of retailers including a lot of small businesses so always worth checking before shopping
have emailed to ask how ex forces can provide work evidence if no longer working? No reply after 3mths or more
TinaMason2013 I would try and apply for one and just leave a note during the application process
Alternatively try Defencediscountservice which I believe is run by the same company and has very similar, if not identical benefits. They accepted a photograph of a certificate that I had as proof (as might the Blue Light card
Can my partner apply? He is a key worker he is a transport manager but it doesnt mention his job
Thanks in advance
MarcellLaffin unfortunately not, this is forces and emergency services rather than keyworkers I'm sorry
