From as young as 6 years old, you can sign up to the Rooster Card, a Visa pre-paid debit card for kids with flexible parental controls.

Key features include:

  • Contactless Visa debit card for kids
  • Set flexible spending limits: Daily, Weekly or Monthly
  • Decide where it can be used: in stores, online or at ATMs
  • Instant top-ups (so they’re never caught short)
  • Both parents and kids get their own app.
  • Real-time notifications on when & where they spend
  • No overdraft, no debt, no risk of overspending
  • Freeze/Un-freeze card instantly if stolen (or just lost!)
  • Learn to earn with our chore-tracking feature

We believe the best lessons are learned by ‘doing’. RoosterMoney encourages families to learn together so that parents can actively educate, motivate and empower their kids financially and gives everybody the reassurance that they’re fully prepared for the future.

Surely a better deal would be to give your child the money you would be spending on this card

The initial free £10 is interesting but the £24.99 annual fee isn't.

Does anyone use this? I would like to set one up for my nephew, but not sure if it's just better to go to the bank 🤷‍♀️

Looks like a good deal but can't understand why parents would pay an annual subs, why not give your children cash to help them with adding up

Sounds great until you realise they charge nearly £25 a year to run the card!!! My daughter gets a free card with the bank I'm with and it has no overdraft, no credit and NO charges and it has spending limits set and inbuilt security, ie. Texts to my phone if used for something out of the ordinary.
