This is a very good deal £1 for 6 months is a super bargain ,i have ordered for my son .Thanks for letting us know about it
Been with Lebara for a year I wonder if I can use this deal. Great network provider, no issues what so ever
Dee11 I wonder about this, too. I know you have to order a new sim and it'll work, but I'm not sure if it'll work if you try to add the new sim to your existing account (keeping the new num), so you don't have to make a new/bunch of accounts.
I think it might be difficult to move your old number to the new sim, since usually you get a pac code from a different provider.
If you happen to find out, I'd be grateful for an update.
hky you can have upto 4 sims per account. If you are on Lebara already on another tariff then you need to do double port to bring your number to this deal
hky to keep your existing number you need to double port. Buy the £1 lebara sim and also purchase a payg sim and request pac from lebara and port your current number to the payg sim. Once number is ported you’ll have to wait until the next day to request a pac code from payg sim (can’t request pac the day number ports). Then insert new lebara sim and request pac from payg. So basically you’re porting from a different provider as a new customer. And on the days you port make sure it’s before 5pm for it to transfer the next day. Takes 4 days so start mon or Tues to avoid the last step porting to lebara on a Friday or weekend, in which case porting will take longer porting the following mon/tues.
lijodevassy no if you’re already with lebara as these deals are for new customers. Your number has to come from a different provider so you’re rejoining as a new customer.
kevsey technically yes but there is a workaround. Buy it on another email address. Get pac on existing number. Get free sim from Asda. Port to that. Day after transfer get pac from Asda. Give that code to new Lebara and bobs your happy uncle. Cost £0 : time no pain no gain
TheSorceror Thanks for your suggestions. My friend has just come out of 1p a Month lycamobile and a £4.75 payment was made 16.02.24. If he was to request PAC code today and purchase this deal, would he be charged up to 16.03.24 so that would waste 1 month with Lebara?
SAdeals yes unf that £4.75 won't be refunded by lyca. But you ve two weeks to activate the Lebara so effectively halving the loss
TheSorceror ok thanks for letting me know. Do you know how long this deal is running please?
TheSorceror hiya. When you say they take 2 weeks. What do you mean please. I'm going to purchase tonight. Will the month start from today? Thanks.
SAdeals let me clarify. Disregard 2weeks. So I bought my sim on the 10th but didn't put it in my phone until the 25th Jan. That's when my billing started even though I bought on the 10th. So in your case buy today and carry on using lyca until say a week before it's renewal. Put Lebara sim in your phone and give them the pac code. Your contract will come to an end and you won't be billed anymore. At worst you've lost a week's worth of money with lyca but you've extended your Lebara deal by 3 weeks
TheSorceror thank you for the clarification! I've requested my PAC code already and cancelled future payments so i'll purchase right away. Thanks again
Very good deal from lebara ..its a good value for money contract I will look into it thanks for sharing
These really are great value. I got one last year and even after the 6 months offer ends £7.90 is still cheaper than a lot of networks for unlimited calls and texts as well as 15 GB of data .
What astonishes me is that they used to run through O2 network so must have had to pay them some kind of fee for using their network. However 02 were much much more expensive than Lebara ? Lol
Nickyhaslam77 I think you’ve mixed up Lebara with Lyca. The point is the same - how can an outfit sell O2/Vodafone/Three services cheaper than the brand and still made significant profit?
mattrich1610 they both had sim deals for 1 penny last year , I think both Lyca and Lebara . I’m sure at one point they were both running through 02 network . I may be wrong but you agree it doesn’t make any sense they can use another company network and be cheaper. What shocked me even more was Lyca actually sent the sim out by courier , not through the post . The 1 penny a month deal sim they actually sent by courier. How can they make money like that . I’m sure it costs more than 1 penny to even make the SIM card. Lol
Nickyhaslam77 mattrich1610 Lyca used to use O2 but are on EE now. Lebara UK seems to have used Vodafone for a pretty long time (possibly always) - can't find any previous providers; but interestingly, they use O2 in Germany and different providers in different countries.
They earn money probably because they're only paying for basic network use (so customers don't get bonuses/perks), but staff/shops and other company overheads aren't as high. i.e Vodafone's customer service is likely better than Lebara's and more strictly trained to keep customers. (I also vaguely wonder about how it all works - especially the 1p; maybe they have soo many that it doesn't even cost 1p)
hky I did try to reply to your comment after I looked it up if lebara used 02 network and they did for little bit. But the reply is now a random comment at the bottom somewhere on this post. Once o realised it hadn’t posted as a reply to you I added your name so you know it was meant to reply to your comments. Sorry if that’s confusing, I’ve confused myself , lol
Oh wow. This is a really good price. Thanks for sharing. Will be sharing this deal with my family. Thanks
