Can I get a free trial on Netflix?

Netflix cancelled its free trial promo in the UK a while ago, so you won't find free trial offers anymore.

Do Netflix promo codes exist?

Netflix promo codes are very rare. Always be wary of any websites claiming to offer them as they could be scams.

Are there any family plans to save money on Netflix?

Hints & Tips

  1. Create multiple user profiles if you share a Netflix account to get personalised recommendations suited to your taste, avoiding unnecessary scrolling.
  2. Benefit from Netflix's sign-up deals by using different email addresses for free trial offers, but remember to cancel to avoid charges.
  3. Disable autoplay in Netflix settings to manage data usage better and prevent accidental binge-watching, saving on any excess mobile data costs.

Buyer's guide

Netflix is an excellent way to enjoy a variety of TV shows, films and documentaries from the comfort of your home without breaking the bank. With its vast library, you can find content to suit every taste – perfect for anyone looking to save money on entertainment. Netflix offers different subscription plans to cater to various needs, including a Basic plan for those who are happy with standard definition and watching on one device at a time. For families or households, the Standard or Premium plans allow for high definition (and 4K content, with Premium) and multiple screens. Be aware of your data usage, though, as streaming in higher quality consumes more data.

Keep an eye out for promotions as Netflix sometimes offers free trials for new users, though it's less common these days. Even without offers, Netflix gives plenty of content for its price, which can be cheaper than other entertainment options like cinema tickets or purchasing box sets. You can further maximise savings by sharing a subscription with family or friends, dividing the cost while still being able to watch on multiple devices. Use Netflix's download feature to save on mobile data by downloading episodes or films while connected to Wi-Fi.

Netflix sales

  • Black Friday Special: Netflix usually offers deals or promotions during the Black Friday period, which often includes discounted subscription rates.
  • Cyber Monday Deals: The Monday after Black Friday sees an extension or introduction of deals for online subscribers.
  • Christmas and New Year Offers: Around the festive season, Netflix may run promotional offers to attract new users.
  • Valentine's Day Promo: Sometimes Netflix provides special discounts leading up to and including Valentine’s Day.
  • Back to School Offers: This period can see deals aimed at students returning to school or university.
  • Summer Discounts: Netflix occasionally has summer promotions to entice viewers during the holiday period.

Delivery & Returns

Navigating Netflix’s delivery and return process is straightforward yet could use a bit of polish. First and foremost, delivery is an easy win – since everything is digital, there’s no waiting for DVDs or dealing with clunky packaging. However, if you choose to cancel, you'll not receive any refund for the period you've watched. It feels a bit stringent, especially considering that many subscription services offer a prorated return when cancelling. While the convenience factor is high, the financial flexibility could certainly benefit from a user-friendly update.

What our expert thinks about Netflix...

Shopping at Netflix can be both good and bad for money-conscious consumers. While the platform offers a wide selection of entertainment, it might not be the cheapest option. The absence of frequent sales or discounts means you have to pay the subscription price consistently. If you’re keen on saving money, it might be worth keeping an eye on promotional deals or considering alternative streaming services that offer similar content at lower prices.

Netflix is one of my favourite streaming services. One show I love in particular is orange is the new black. I have watched it several times because I love it so much. Some great Christmas shows have come out over the last few years too - and I’m very much looking forward to see what they bring out this year. Highly recommended
