Is this an official coin or just a company cashing in on the Duke's death?

TractorGirl327 I think we all know the answer to that. Two companies are "cashing in" here... Let's hope people realise Emma is just doing her job this time.

Dennab I only ask because I've applied for "free" coins from the Royal Mint before and then once they'd got my contact details they kept phoning trying to pressure me into purchasing more high-value coins. They were a pain in the bum and I had to escalate it to an official complaint before they'd stop pestering me. The once sent me a gold sovereign worth several hundred pounds that I hadn't ordered and I had to pay to return it! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

TractorGirl327 they sent my grandmother a £200 coin AFTER they were told she had dementia and to stop taking money from her. They even threatened her with debt collection agencies.

emmabeckz Yes I know it's not Emma, I didn't think I had said that it was but it's obviously the wording I used, I put 'they are a subscription service though' meaning in general they are but I did not say this coin was part of the subscription service did I??

JoTarpley yep I know what you mean but it confused another member into thinking they had signed up to a subscription I was replying to them but as it was a reply it tagged you rather than them. All sorted now anyway

"We have worked with The Koin Club" seems to imply LatestDeals' complicit behaviour in capitalising on this scandal.

Is anyone else struggling to sign up on the website? It only seems to go as far as putting your delivery details in then won't go any further.

As it obviously doesn't cost £3.50 to post, this is clearly not free! Why can't they simply be honest? 🤔

How can LDs say 'We have worked with The Koin Club to show you this great deal to remember Prince Philip who sadly died on the 9th of April aged 99' when it is on The Koin Clubs Facebook page for everyone?

JoTarpley they’ve paid LD to post this because they know people using this site are likely their target market (people who fall for the ‘free’ marketing technique).

It’s posts like these that remind you that LD is just a corporation, rather than a humble deal finding site. I know they have to fund the site, but they should be more upfront about when it’s a paid campaign, rather than a actual deal.

JoTarpley this is how Latest Deals makes money to continue running the site and giving out Amazon vouchers

jpdunne1996 we are upfront and say we have worked with the company to show you the deal, every post that is a sponsored post starts this way and we are very transparent about this.

Thanks both and have a great evening 🙂

You realise you are allowed to turn down deals that are just out to exploit people.

I remember it being called something like "HAVING MORALS" back in the day

How about marking each sponsored post as 'sponsored post' - perhaps with a logo, or something industry standard?

I have been a member for a few months and prior to you openly discussing this now, I did not know the formula "worked with = sponsored post".

How many people really read 'how does Latest Deals make money?' and the fine print in order to find this out.

Trying to nurture and expand a community based on assumptions that 'people know' 'and it's there... somewhere in the bushes' isn't a sensible approach, because you get questions around concealment and backlash.

subdub we are open and honest about this and how we make money to continue running the site whereas other deal sites are not. It’s all in the guidelines and we feel that putting this at the beginning of each post is sufficient but please use the contact us form if you want to discuss this further. Thank you 🙂

emmabeckz Perhaps you ought to make this a poll to really see what your userbase agrees with - I suspect the coin won't land on your side.

In any case, this should be feedback enough for your continuous user improvement activity.

emmabeckz Is that proposal because a public post, visible-to-all, with valid undertones, highlights discrepancies, or will I be offered bonus points via the form?

PS: I did like the post. Don't shoot me, bro.

Thank you to all your feedback/comments on this thread. We appreciate your comments and we're always quite open and transparent where we have a partnership with a brand. For some members who are coin collectors this is just a genuine good deal. I have personally ordered from KoinClub before on many occasions and never had problems with them. We also have a full backend system to make sure we only work with reputable advertisers across LatestDeals. Considering the sensitive nature of this topic for now I will expire this deal but I wanted to assure people that it is a genuine deal for people who are collectors.
