Nestle Announces Another Beloved Product Is Getting The Axe

Image

Attention, savvy shoppers and sweet treat enthusiasts! Nestle has just dropped a bombshell that's causing a stir among candy lovers in the UK. The company has announced the discontinuation of two beloved products: Polo Fruits and Polo Gummies. This news came straight from Nestle's official post on X.

These candies, especially popular for their convenience and nostalgic value, have been a staple in many Brits' pockets. However, Nestle's decision to axe these sweets is based on their apparent lack of popularity compared to other products in their range. But let's not get carried away with corporate speak; it's clear that many fans are anything but pleased with this move.

Social media has been abuzz with reactions. Loyal Polo lovers are voicing their dismay and pleading with Nestle to bring back these cherished treats. The conversation is filled with nostalgic reminiscences and a clear demand for the return of these classic candies.

Sayan Bose at The Sun reported that alongside the disappointment over Polo Fruits and Polo Gummies, Nestle also recently made the tough call to stop producing the Caramac bar, a caramel-flavored chocolate bar beloved since the 1950s. This decision was attributed to low sales, but it has similarly left fans disheartened and stocking up on the remaining supplies.

Nestle's response to the public outcry has been diplomatic, acknowledging the feedback but sticking to their decision for now. This situation reflects a broader trend in the confectionery market, where brands often have to make tough choices about which products to continue based on sales and popularity.

To sum it all up, Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, offers a neutral perspective: "Nestle's discontinuation of Polo candies and the Caramac bar is a significant shift in the UK confectionery landscape. It's a reminder of how market trends and consumer preferences drive corporate decisions, often leading to the end of some beloved products."

I used to buy Fruit Polos over the mint flavoured ones. To be honest it was too sweet for my likings. But it was very very cheap so I brought it for that reason only.

Never seen gummies but polo fruits are nostalgic. But as some mentioned, thought they’d gone years back as haven’t seen them for a while

Perhaps if they advertised these or did product placement in cash and carry's or supermarkets and grew the ailing brand with younger people and part of their 5 a day the need to stop production and save millions by freeing production time to use on kit Kat's is a winner for nestle. I am sure that Joseph Rowntree is turning in his grave how this company has been allowed to continue when you look at how many jobs have gone from York.
