Top Tips For Finding Christmas Bargains

Most people buy all their Christmas presents and preparations in November and December. This causes a huge spike in monthly expenditure which takes months to recover from. Much better is to spread the purchases over the year, starting from July. What, start buying for Christmas in July? Tom, you're mad! Think of this way, July is only four pay days away from Christmas. It's the best time to start hunting for bargains, and here I'll give you some tips:

Approved Food

Approved Food deals are perfect for stocking fillers and Christmas presents. Approved Food is an online discount retailer where you can save up to 80%. It works in exactly the same way as Ocado, Tesco or Sainsbury's. You do your grocery shopping online. Why is it so cheap? Because it sells stuff supermarkets couldn't shift. That may be items near their use-by date, or perhaps the packaging was slightly damaged. Often the items perfect - just the supermarket couldn't sell it. Approved Food passes those savings on to you.

It's not just basic groceries you can get, but luxury items too. Ferrero Rocher for £1, Champagne, natural organic baby wipes for pennies. Take a look and see what you can find. Plus don't forget the money mantra: Code First. Stack your discounts with an Approved Food voucher code to get free delivery.

Summer Sales

From July, the Summer Sales are the perfect time to find a bargain. The shops start reducing the discounts even further and giving the final clearances. For example, B&M always has a big nationwide Summer sale where you can get up to 80% off in-store. This is great for stocking fillers such as small candles and bathroom goodies.

Online, you'll find big discounts at clothing retailers such as Boohoo and Blue Vanilla. 80% is common plus stack with a voucher code to get even more.

Toy Sales

Keep an eye out for the Argos 3 for 2 toy sale and the Smyths toy sale. The former has one at the end of July, and the latter in September. Fab for saving on Christmas presents for the kids which is normally a big expense. A top tip for the Argos 3 for 2 toy sale is to reserve your items online a day before, then check to see whether they're reduced in the sale on the day. This way you can be sure they don't go out of stock.

But, if you miss the toy sales don't fear. Most toy retailers also have another one in October half term, and then there's Black Friday deals as well.

Emergency Food Box

Christmas brings about higher expenses. All those mince pies and trimmings add up. So much so that you may run into some real financial difficulty. To make sure you can get through any hiccup, it may be worth preparing an emergency food box. Start collecting bargains throughout the year that last. Non-perishables. Again, Approved Food is a great place for this but any supermarket has deals. Spot an incredible deal on Champagne? Put it in your box. Not just basic items such as tinned vegetables, fruits and meat, but a few specials too. Then when life throws a curve ball you can ride it out in style.
