Yes I just noticed it myself now. I guess that’s the plan to slow this section down!

Morning guys 🙂

This is something new we're trying to encourage discussion in the chat section.

We love how active chat is but have noticed that some members tend to dive bomb into the section, share their two topics of the day in quick succession, then not come back and participate.

We're hoping this small change will encourage people to make higher quality posts and to revisit chat to follow up their original topics.

As with everything on LD all feedback (good and bad) is appreciated 👍

What a smart idea! I like it👍

The Chat section would be much better without having questions being asked that the authors don't really want answers to, and who couldn't care less about wasting other users' time who make the effort to provide answers.

Is the sky blue? More points please.

Salt or pepper? More points please.

Where should I go on holiday? Amazon voucher please.

It's simply greed.

In my view it's stealing.

Johnny I think everyone except those who have to come here twice to claim their daily fourpenceworth of points will like it.

I first saw this topic in the very early hours of the morning and must say I wasn't too surprised at who had discovered this innovation.

Johnny And I am reasonably certain it is being done by some using multiple accounts, [EDITED BY ADMIN]. I ask why should any honest person need to hide their location!

I can never believe how stupid that person is - he perhaps knows as much about the crime of fraud as he does about copyright law and hasn't realised if prosecuted he could get an unlimited fine and/or up to two years imprisonment. If by chance he sees this he/she might check out that what I say is true and hopefully we see a few names disappear.

I sometimes wonder if the person I refer to cross-dresses when he changes the apparent gender of screen name☺☺ ☺☺

Thank you, Kelsey. Hopefully this will cut down a lot on the number of repeated topics as well as the obvious point gathering ones.

Smart move. 👍

Thank you for making the change - I really love to dip in and out of the topics but have become bored by the quality of 'I got my points' posts. There are many who would prefer to see points given when the poster comes back to acknowledge activity/when there are four or five comments.

RegularComper90 I feel exactly the same. Good to know that the team are monitoring things though.

angemski I just hope they can actually get rid of those with multiple accounts or anyone who is obviously milking the points system with little or no helpful input.

I saw one points gatherer who also goes around trolling other members deals - posting the exact same deal twice - just adding a word to the second one.

It's up to us all to help the owners of this site by reporting these FRAUDSTERS.

About time. I wonder if these people ever look at the responses to those posts either. Doubt it.

I think just get rid of the chat section altogether and create a live chat room. Problem solved. The points in this section are worthless anyway.

The points are not worthless the points have exactly the same value as the points from elsewhere on this site.

It might, as I have suggested before, be better to stop the points on the chat section altogether then it would only be used by those genuinely wanting to chat or with serious questions. Those who regularly put two totally useless topics up and never take any interest in replies would soon get tired.

I would also suggest that those trolling other people's deals shouldn't get points for doing so - and perhaps even deduct a few thousand points from those who maliciously report deals as expired instead of giving them points.

This is a great idea! Some people are just here to get points. You can tell the ones that never come back.

I think most of us know who the "points gatherers" are and usually ignore them. I'm going one step further and reporting any OBVIOUS repeat topics. One yesterday had repeated his own topic from only 12 days previously. I'm happy to report that the second one was removed. (Not just locked).

davidstockport How do you report? Is there a link somewhere? I will do that too if I see them.

GlitchHunter If reporting a duplicate topic go to the first time it was posted and obtain the URL of the original. You can use the "Search" to find it, you then display the original (1st posting of it) and copy the contents of your address bar it is then held in "clipboard".

You then go to the duplicate topic (2nd posting of it)- to the right of the opening post you will see three dots, (picture below for explanation only), when you click on those dots REPORT will show - when you click on REPORT you will be given various choices as to why you're reporting the topic.

If you select "Duplicate" you then paste in the original URL (from your clipboard) you can should you wish leave a comment you then press the blue REPORT button. It's not as complicated as I've perhaps made it sound. Image

Instead of people posting 2 topics per day we'll just see people posting 1 unless people can wait 1 hour longer. If people are going to post spam they will still post spam, it will just be 1 instead of 2 per person you'll see on a regular basis.

Essentially this is just to slow down chat topic creation. I think eventually most people won't bother waiting 1 hour for another 20 measly points.
