I have a beautiful Hungarian Vizsla, thirteen years old, was once russet red all over but has lovely grey sprinkles all over her face and all four paws that children who ask to stroke her ask if she is wearing boots , l only hope l have her for a few more years as the zooming has stopped and her favourite things are eating and sleeping nowadays , treasure your fur babies
We have 4 Greyhounds they are really good dogs very affectionate , like cats sleep a lot after their walk.
Spoke to a partially sighted man today while outside Morrisons. He had 2 Yorkshire Terriers and one of them was an assistance dog. Turns out they are a very intelligent breed and actually started as working dogs in the cotton mills of Yorkshire killing rats. I just thought they were a toy breed. The dog stops when there is pavement drop so the lead tension drops and the dog recognises shops by their smell so he speaks to the dog the name of the shop and the dog recognises the shop by its smell so he then asks it to go to that shop and again it will stop at that shop. It just helps him with his day to day life as he only has vision at the edges and very blurred forward vision. Quite impressive for such a small dog. Everyday a learning experience. Glad to see Yorkshire terriers aren't one of the terriers on the at risk list.
We have a pug too and a black german shepherd, my alapaha bulldog passed away and these guys were looking for a new home x
I used to have Labradors, but our current pair are rescued Dogue De Bordeaux.
I like that they are fairly rare, and people always smile and make a fuss of them when we are walking them.
We had a Jack Russell but unfortunately we had to put her to sleep 2 weeks ago. She was only 8 years old. Was very unexpected, hit us hard. Treasure your dogs.
My dog is part Russell terrier, so I'm doing my bit
If I had room I'd have a bull mastiff, they're fabulous dogs
My son has a chocolate labrador, which I look after while he's at work. He's so friendly and full of energy and so loving too. He constantly wants to eat, sleeps a good bit, and is a fantastic guard dog. ( When the barking doesn't get on your nerves that is lol) He sheds so much hair it totally wrecks me. As my son let him sleep on the bed beside him since he was a puppy. He's so sensitive and protective too. Last March, I tripped in my bedroom, resulting in a spiral fracture of my left humerus, so so painful, which hasn't healed and I now require surgery for. My son was at the shop when it happened, so I was upstairs alone, the dog was downstairs. It was like a bad dream. I fell and landed on my 2 knees facing 1 wall, my left arm was lying on the floor like jelly, twisted out the other way. I don't know how, but I picked my hand up with the other hand, got onto my feet and onto the bed, crying and shouting help. Up ran my sons dog, who usually jumps up onto the bed and lies across your legs. He obviously knew I was in real pain, so he jumped onto my bed, lay at the bottom on the other side. He stayed there just looking at me, until my son came back from the shop and phoned an ambulance. I am Nanny by name to him btw. I think he's a wee trauma dog lol. Bless him.
Inter breeding should be banned!! I've always had Staffordshire bull terriers, the breed is being ruined, my neighbour bought one last year £800 and I know this breed very well, what he purchased is mixed £800 this inter breeding is killing pure breed pedigrees
I used to have two black Labradors and a west highland terrier, unfortunately all have past away. I have considered getting another dog but losing a dog really hits hard.
I have a Border Collie and I can't see them declining any time soon as they are the most popular farm working bread dog and one of the most worked with for Heelwork to Music, Agility and Flyball
We had a alapaha bulldog, he was my shadow, he had kidney failure, I was so upset we took on a little pug last year, as his owners were too busy, he is really sweet. Also a black german shepherd, who was looking for a home, she was a lot of worksettled in well and makes a great guard dog x
I don’t have any personally (I’d love a Dachshund when I retire) but my friends have the following- Cocker Spaniel, puppy Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Kelpies (loads of them), Jack Russell, Collie Cross Jack Russell and Cockapoo. My Dad’s neighbour has a puppy Dachshund called Strudel. All are gorgeous and friendly dogs no matter how big or small.
We have 3 St Bernard's..very loving and affectionate ..1 girl and 2 boys..getting on a bit now..bit like myself.
