17 Month Who Has Stopped Sleeping

Ask a Question

So my 17 month old has stopped sleeping during the night. He is up and down all night. Now usually he goes to bed at 7pm and is up anytime frI'm anytime after 6am. But not anymore. Now I have googled it and it does suggest it could be sleep regression. Anyone got any advice?

My first hardly slept as a baby. The when we had our home visit we were asked how long he slept. We said 9 hours a day on and off and she looked at us and said "you mean 9 hours awake". She thought we were lying. I just remember mine at the age you are talking about going through phases of a week or three, no sleep then more sleep. I would advise giving it some time as it might just be a thing. As you say good old sleep regression. The problem is as adults we have to deal with it too. I just remember going a little barmy. Best of luck!

My daughter is 20 months now and she did this around the 17/18 month mark. She has slept all through the night since she was a few months old so the lack of sleep was horrific 🤣 she seemed to be ok when one of us was in the room with her so we just took it in turns to go into her room to reassure everything was ok and stroke her back to sleep. After a week she started sleeping through the night again. Hang in there 💪🏻

It is more than likely sleep regression. It could also be a growth spurt or teething as they can also affect their sleep. My sons sleep has always been sporadic. One night he will sleep 5 hours at a time (amazing for him) and the next night he will be up every hour. Give it some time, it will probably sort itself out.
