2024 Wedding
Other
Hello beautiful bargain hunters. I am getting married in 5 months and would appreciate any links, suggestions, tips advice etc it’s a very small wedding and we’re on a budget so any freebies would be appreciated.
Congratulations, I was lucky enough to win my personalised jewellery and cufflinks.
Sadly we postponed having our wedding due to cost and other things and haven't got married yet!
But there are often loads of wedding competitions out there,
You'll be surprised what you'll get via the following sites/apps:
Freecycle, Freegle, FreelyWheely, Preloved, Freeads, Gumtree, Shpock, Vinted, eBay, Olio local Facebook Groups/Marketplace.
Even if you put a post up on your local social media groups saying you are on a limited budget, often people are happy to help where they can.
Wed2B do regular competitions to win the bride's dress or bridesmaid dresses, you may already have these sorted though and might not want to wait to see if you win or not as it isn't a guarantee.
They also currently have a fab competition if you send in your proposal story, competition ends in March (see their Facebook page featured post)
If you look for a photographer wanting more pictures for their portfolio (obviously check what they've already done) then they can often offer a cheap or if you are very lucky, free photography for the day.
Confetti, you can make yourself but it has to be eco friendly and will depend on your venue, so you can hole punch leaves after washing and drying them out.
Favours, consider if they are worth it, what you want them to be and what you can afford. If you don't feel people would be interested or they aren't what you want, do you really need them? Or just grab a massive bag of vegan sweets and food safe cellophane bags and wrap those up! These will most likely be eaten and cater for many of the guests.
Hitched website often has competitions, they currently have one for 25k wedding (but you've probably booked yours already!)
Terms: You would need to book and plan a wedding to take place between 1st April - 31st December 2024 to be eligible for the prize.
The Bridal Buzz have a fair few competitions on regularly.
Some people love a special perfume for their day. M&S have an amazing range at the moment and only around £12. Avon also do some lovely perfumes that are very reasonably priced or apply for some samples or pop into a store like The Perfume Shop or The Fragrance Shop, they often offer free samples if you are questioning buying a larger bottle of something, they don't have to know if you have no intention to
If you won't wear the shoes again and are happy to wear secondhand for the day (you can get sprays and invisible socks if you wanted, then you could borrow your shoes or other items.
We got married during the week as it was cheaper, got discounts on the venue, food and drink, band, cars and photographer. Bought mine and bridesmaids jewellery in the sales, bought mine and bridesmaids shoes in the sale. Dresses were bought when the shop had a promotion on so saved money. You could get your dress and bridesmaids second hand. Consider renting suits. Any flowers used during the ceremony can double up as table decorations. Consider making your own favours, we made biscuits for my mother in laws, everyone loved them. We also made the cake for my mother in laws. Try to get things second hand as it will save lots of money and things will be like new.
