Is 54 Too Old to Get Married?

Ask a Question

I am due to get married this June to my high school sweetheart. I'm hoping to be able to walk down the aisle using one walking stick and intend to wear an ivory trouser suit. I don't think I'm too old but others may disagree. What do you think?

Is there a set age to get married, anyone 18 or above is allowed. I think it’s nice you’re a little older than the normal bride. Shows age is just a number

You are never too old to get married. My mother in law got married for the 2nd time at 50, it was one of the best days ever. There is no age limit on marriage. Congratulations, have a beautiful wedding and a wonderful marriage.

At your age you should know what you want, you have experienced life & long as you love each other, that's all that matters..

Wishing you a marriage full of life, love & laughter.❤️

It's up to you & your Fiance what age you get married, NO one else's business.

My brother in law got married for the first time in his early 60's to a lady over 10 years younger than him with 2 lads..

At the wedding the lads then 19 & 21 gave emotional speeches saying how they absolutely LOVED their new stepdad & how he was the best thing that had happened to their mum & them .The 19 year old was in tears & my brother in law just gave him a lasting hug to comfort him...

My brother in law is absolutely devoted to his family...x

I am thinking why are you even asking. It’s your life and totally up to you what you do. My own personal opinion which shouldn’t make any difference is go for it and have a wonderful wedding day and enjoy the rest of your happily married.

Of course you are not too old. I am an ex registrar and have married many couples in their 70s and 80s. Love can strike at any age.

No, congrats.

It's just people these days may not be fully aware who they're marrying and then it turns into something ugly. A prenup agreement would possibly fix that.

EmmaWright762 How did the wedding go? I hope any negative comments didn't spoil the day for you. My partner and I both 66 also tied the knot mid June the day we went on holiday and we didn't tell anyone until our return.
