So according to records the UK is in an accident crisis with the highest ever reported number of accidents and deaths
A lot are in the home and are preventable
One story in the article tells how a man hover mowing his grass chopped off two of his toes
What he doesn't tell is if he was wearing the correct footwear , maybe he had sandals on, a good pair of shoes, even steel capped safety shoes would have prevented this happening
Are we becoming too complacent nowadays or have we all got too many worries on our minds to concentrate ?
As I have gotten older, I am super cautious with everything I do, compared to when I was younger and couldn't careless, I've had a few dangerous jobs, when I look back I must have beens mad doing what I did lol
martinlufc5637 Similar to me M, its like we were blind to danger back then , then as you get older the blindfold slips and you become more aware
I definitely think your risk taking lessens as you get older but as you are maybe not so strong or good on your feet you are still liable to have accidents.
Whenever I say to my husband be careful he always replies ‘I’ve done a full H&S risk assessment’. Of course he hasn’t.
I think a lot of people think we are health and safety mad so do will what they like add in common sense seems to be a thing of the past with a lot of people.
Last year I mentioned on Facebook about wearing dark clothes when walking on roads and cars nearly hitting them really need to be wearing something reflective. Someone told me I was victim blaming and needed to slow down on the roads. In fact I never mentioned I was speeding it was an observation
Jerseydrew I noticed this too J, people either walking in the dark down unlit roads wearing black with no lights , or even riding bicycles doing the same. It should be compulsory to have reflective clothing in unlit areas or get fined as they do in the US , I think they call it jay walking. If you hit someone with your car because you cannot see them the police are quick enough to prosecute you, pedestrians need to take responsibility also
