I haven't tried them (or heard about them) before, but I do like all things salted caramel. If I'm near an Aldi I'll need to get some.

I do not like mince pies so I wouldn't want to try either of them, they sound awful. I love salted caramel but not in a mince pie.

In spite of baking dozens of them every year I am not overly keen myself, I find all types far too sweet so won't be trying them from the shops. Today I made 5 dozen, half normal and half with frangipane topping. Another 5 dozen should do it as each year more people want them!

You been bissy. No I would not like to try the caramel one but would like to try prosecco one. Love home made mince pies. But never had frangipane pie. What is it. 🐧🐧

nicolajaynehend do you like Bakewell tart? Well it is the almond flavoured sponge on top that has flaked almonds over it. Usually on top of the jam which covers the pastry. Tastes like Mr kipling almond slices lol. My next batch will have half with a buttery Viennese biscuit topping and the other half the same topping as Apple crumble.

nicolajaynehend I love my food processor and make the pastry in it. I use a higher percentage of butter than usual for shortcrust which gives it the 'shorter' taste, I also add a spoonful of icing sugar and bind it with egg, not cold water. The frangipane is same as you probably do with your bakewell. I find my mince pie baking very therapeutic and it has become a bit of a tradition as my daughters in law always ask for some and that has now extended I think to their fathers! My boss, best friend and granddaughter also have some but this year I am going away with 7 others and have been asked to contribute mince pies!
