Amazon Free Delivery Has Increased from £25 to £35

Other

Just seen it now, yikes. £25 was already bad enough, but £35 is even more steep.

Good thing it's possible to deliver to a pickup store / post office as that's free of charge.

For ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️ great have to spend another £10 for free delivery pfft how Damn annoying!! Grr 😠

Can’t believe £35!! Good thing I use amazon gift card to pay for items

Thanks for letting us know

Did you know you can save 5% on any four qualifying items?

kitty88uk Rarely do I ever order four of the same thing, though.

Except one time I ordered 4x of these: amazon.co.uk/Snickers-Creamy-Peanut-Butter-Chocolate/dp/B08ZTFYVT7

Tastes great and nothing comes quite close to it, but if I were to take advantage of the 5% again it'd need to be delivered as pickup doesn't count.

PhilipMarc I haven’t had a snickers chocolate 🍫 bar in ages!! Looks delicious 😋 And I have not tried peanut 🥜 butter flavour before!

Lol 😝 it says ships within 1-2 months lmao 🤣

No! You can buy any of the thousands of items that says save 5%! I have bought so many different food items and books 📚 of different titles and a lot of skincare items

Even though it’s just an extra £1.45 or so off total order it’s better than nothing!!

kitty88uk yes I have also saved 5% when ordering four qualifying items previously. Also if you set up a recurring delivery you save a little amount and you can cancel the recurring delivery when you want to and choose how often you want to receive the item . I've used that option before too for boxes of crisps as they never go to waste in my house . I suppose they are trying to get people to commit to the Prime membership.

Of course each time you checkout with an order of £35 or more you will still get the 'get free delivery with prime' despite prime costing £9 a month or almost £100 a year which is not free. I'm surprised the click and collect orders to local stores etc are free as when you collect them they are still packaged the same its just the address is a store rather than my local address. When I go to collect my items often it is only my item there for collection or one or two others. It's not like they are dropping off 50 orders to the same store. I recently bought some potassium tablets and they were £3 less than Amazon compared to anyone else for a 365 day supply if I had paid for amazon postage they would have been more expensive but the free click and collect was the best value and the shop in question where I collect is about a 4 minute walk from my home. Of course click and collect can only be small items so for larger items there is that £35 requirement which makes Amazon less appealling.

I know Reform are extremely unlikely to get into power but there 4% I think it is tax on online sales and no business tax for small to medium sized businesses to help bring back the high street and would make Amazon even less competitive in price and you wonder if such a tax may be adopted by other parties. I feel like labour may also want to restore the high street and punish Amazon more and they are likely to be in power soon. I can see Amazon's costs increasing. Only the Conservatives are so utterly moronic that they just let the market dictate what happens and do not get involved in the economy and try to repair it. The point is such a tax would push Amazon prices and possibly their minimum free postage amount to higher levels. If Amazon prices become less competitive due to higher tax then less people will require prime for free postage as they will be making a lower amount of sales to Amazon. I know people who purchase huge amounts from Amazon even when their prices are uncompetitive just for convenience and these people still complain about the state of the economy and yet do so much damage to the economy itself and expect nothing of themselves in helping the economy.

Jackscot It was changed like a day or so ago.

I used to wait and build up an order to reach £25, but £35 is a lot less likely. At that point it's just purchases of £30+ and some more.

Amazon's just getting greedier and they forget other retailers exist.

PhilipMarc Exactly what I did. Put items in basket and purchase once I had £25 worth. It's ridiculous now if gone up again. I will go elsewhere from now on.

Yeah I noticed this yesterday, it's getting ridiculous, if I opt for local shop pick up it's free for a £3 item, it's only 20 seconds away, yet delivery is £5.99, makes no sense

Well that's not going to help their sales now is it? Doh! Whose genius idea was that to lower the amount of sales they make lol? I will still only order ocassionally and not buy more than I want to.

EmmaWright762 It maybe that more people will subscribe to Prime as well as some others stop using Amazon as much. It could still be financially beneficial to Amazon. These vampire payments like prime which constantly take small amounts of money from your bank account and provide a huge revenue stream for Amazon are what they are trying to achieve. I've never subscribed to prime but do have 4 amazon accounts so I get regular free trials of prime. Enough for 4 months of prime a year I guess. I normally do the trials around Prime day and Black Friday typically.

Well this is exactly how business works, amazon push all other retailers out by being a lot cheaper. When the competition is gone they can then raise prices and we have no choice but to pay as there is no alternative.

A good example on the highstreet is Greggs, they came in and undercut all other bakeries. Now most of the competitors are gone their items have become a lot more expensive

jms19 I can see your point but we still have a bakery in the main town centre which in theory competes with Greggs but their prices have also increased in the last year and still remain hugely more expensive than Greggs by a similar ratio and aren't Greggs prices actually standard nationwide anyway so would be the same whether there is a competing bakery in the same town or city or not? I go into Greggs regularly to get my free coffee thanks to Octoplus which I can have once a week.

jms19 why buy from greggs when it’s on the high street of course prices expensive lol 😝 yeah I get that it’s for the convenience for on the go

Never buy pies 🥧 from there lol I’d rather buy from supermarket as a pack has four of them!

I've started getting my items delivered to Amazon lockers as much easier than waiting all day for delivery and it's free. I've noticed there's more shops and post offices in my area I can have it delivered to plus my local Royal Mail sorting office all of which are free.

KAW18 I have tried adding items to lockers instead but I always get refused saying "this item cannot be delivered to a locker" They are only small items size of a CD so it is not because of size being too big..

tmcelligott It might be because it's a item not delivered by Amazon. Only items delivered by Amazon can be sent to Amazon lockers. If it's delivered by a seller then you have to pay what delivery there charge although I find alot of sellers have free delivery. You then also have to have it delivered to your home address. As I say other alternatives is for it to be delivered to a shop, post office or Royal Mail sorting office.

I will look elsewhere now like Ebay for instance. They put it up not that long ago to £25 for free delivery so upping it again by another 40% to £35 is just taking the mick and they will lose more customers. More fool them!

tmcelligott By next year they might bump it to £50. I can't imagine making a £50 purchase on Amazon that often, maybe once a year (gift or something), but that's about it.

They're pretty much forcing non-Prime members to shop elsewhere and that's fine by me. I'm not a big Amazon shopper myself.

They are just getting greedy it’s not that long since it was £20 the only thing is to get together with family or friends and order together and get it delivered to one address

Amazon are putting other retailers out of business..soon we'll have no choice where we shop.. then Amazon can change whatever they like for item/ Delivery

So you end up buying something you don’t need to get free delivery.. cheaper to pay for prime.

mbgmark There are a lot of people that pay for prime and then keep using Amazon because they assume the fact they don't pay postage makes it cheaper. When I look around I find other sellers cheaper than Amazon 90% of the time, it could be ebay, smaller online sellers, aliexpress etc. Also marketplace sellers have independent postage rates, it could be free anyway, they could offer free prime delivery or they could charge delivery despite being a member of prime. So not only does prime cost you money but it can cost you extra money on top as you aren't checking out other sellers. I often buy vitamins online and often the sellers have their own online sites where they sell cheaper than their prices on Amazon because Amazon charges them fees.

Most of the stuff I buy from Amazon is Amazon warehouse where you get returns for much less. It's rare for me to buy anything from Amazon itself that is new unless I've got an offer like £15 of £30 which I had recently and had to use on products sold by Amazon themselves. If its small Amazon warehouse stuff I can get free click and collect delivery. I have to say my two recent purchases were micro SD cards and both were fake and had to be returned.

BonzoBanana there is always cheaper, however for me the super fast delivery and simple return make Amazon very useful. Also takes away worry of tracking down where Evri or Yodel have lost your parcel. Again.

mbgmark You are obviously rich enough to spend that extra money, I'm very much focused on getting maximum value as I have a mortgage to pay and only a single person so its not shared with a partner everything I have to pay for plus I have a rather fussy hungry cat. Also Amazon is hugely damaging to the UK economy and so I would only buy from them if they are cheapest.

Ouch, they need to bring back the no rush option where they used to credit £1 for videos etc

That was a great offer and handy when the children wanted to watch episodes that required payment

I didn’t realise pickup from store or post office is free- that is really useful to know as I’m going to struggle to get to £35, £25 was bad enough as they aren’t always cheap on a lot of things

Mango4 The only time I ever find a good deal on Amazon is when it's posted here. Such as this: www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/2-pack-10600mah-power-bank-fast-charging-usb-c-inputoutput--amazon

Will pickup tomorrow from the Post Office, and also have to go pickup at other stores from Vinted purchases (cheaper than home delivery).

It doesn't bother me that much as I have Prime membership. Work out much cheaper to buy all products (except food, sometimes I use Amazon Fresh if I need something asap) from Amazon than from supermarkets especially on monthly subscribe and save. I am saving a small fortune. Even same clothes sold and dispatched by Amazon are cheaper than purchased directly from the shop.

SebK84 Clothes are something I prefer in person unless you know your exact size.

My sister once ordered £80+ of clothes and then it was sent back it didn't fit or whatever. Seems wasteful when she could've gone in store and tried it, and made sure it was suitable.
