Annoying TalkTalk Takeover of Shell Broadband
Other
Annoying TalkTalk takeover of Shell Broadband with no option to leave penalty free. You are literally forced to use a company you may not like or ever want to use. However this didn't effect me as I'm actually moving broadband before the transfer, in fact my new broadband starts today at some point.
However my mother is still in contract and she has to move to Talktalk and doesn't want to. I had a terrible experience with TalkTalk in the past and would never ever use that company again, they were completely dishonest and misleading a few years ago and made leaving them really difficult. It was completely unprofessional and therefore I blacklisted the company. My mother is aware of the issues I had and doesn't want to join Talktalk either. Just seems unfair you can be forced to join a company or be financially penalised if you refuse.
The Moneysaving expert site is looking into this and says it will ask about this issue but there is still no update on it. Talktalk for a long time had a terrible record on customer service and staff that were financially rewarded for preventing customers moving to other companies. It took a long time for me to sort out my issues with talktalk and get money back and they are simply best avoided in my book.
Anyone else here forced to move to talktalk from Shell Broadband and don't want to?
I think internet and phone providers are very unethical B , it doesnt help they are mainly staffed by younger people , many without scruples , no wonder the customer service is so bad
Had TalkTalk, but they were trash so it was a relief when it came time to canceling the contract with them.
Practically anyone is better than TT.
Yeah talk-talk are a bad company with terrible broadband , my mother in law has had problems lately with them
Looking at the comments its not sounding like Talktalk are any better nowadays. I remember at one point they had the highest contention ratio so customers had the most inconsistent internet connection of any provider. Literally evening internet would slow to a crawl.
To be honest I don't remember all the details of why I hate them so much. The hate has remained yet the fine details of what caused that I've forgotten. I just know I don't want anything to do with them. The word I link to Talktalk is 'hassle'.
irritating inconvenience.

BonzoBanana Three's annoying customer service reminded me of TT.
I asked via live chat to transfer my Three number (PAC, think it's called) and then they kept asking what was the provider and the deal I had. Took about 30mins to get through with them.
Before yesterday a "Ron" from Three called me if I'd be interested in a 8GB Sim deal for £6/pm and I replied no. They really don't like hearing the word "No."
Done with Three. Switched the number to RWG (EE Network) which I've been for a few years and am pleased.
I've been with talk talk for at least ten years, I've never had a problem with them or my WiFi.
Never used Talk Talk before. But as long as the new company that has taken over is providing the same service, I don't think you will have the right to leave without paying an early termination fee.
If the new company is making changes to the contract that you did not sign up for, then I think you should have the right to leave.
Worse case scenario, you could take it to an ofcom.
