Anyone Else Camping at Mo?
Ask a Question
Booking a camping trip during the august school holidays, I assumed the sun would be shining. I'm off on my summer trip today, swapping suncream for raincoats, flip flops for wellies and shorts for anything warm!!!! It's going to be a wet damp week for us. Lots of board/card games ready. Any other ideas for entertainment in tent?
We postponed our camping trip as it’s the first time I’ve been in 20 years and I didn’t want it to be a miserable experience or it might put me off!
So I’ll be following this chat for ideas. I did see an I-spy book for camping which I thought might keep my kiddo busy for a while.
I love camping but if it rains constantly it is not fun. If you have kids it’s worse because you have to pay to keep them entertained which is not cheap.
This is why I holiday abroad generally, you can’t ever know what the weather will be like in this country. It’s actually cold today
Play memory games like at Christmas. I went to shop and bought …… go through alphabet of objects.
Get a tea towel and cover up a number of objects e.g 7-10 of every day things you have with you. E.g butter knife, torch, saucer, sweet, comb, soap, car keys, coin, pencil and tin opener.
Everyone has about a minute or 2 to see everything on the tray and then it gets covered. Everyone then has to list with pen and paper as much as they can remember. When everyone feels they have listed all they can and can’t do anymore, you ask how many they all got. Then lift up cloth and reveal it again and they see what they got and what they missed. One with most objects wins, or if tie joint win. I’ve played this many times and everyone enjoyed it and can do it.
I haven't been camping since I was a teenager. I remember it rained and we were all freezing cold! Never been again. I know that we went paintballing as we were right next to the site.
Good luck, I hope it dries up for you.
Many years ago we bought a tent and equipment to start camping. After three days of continuous rain we came and I said never again! Putting on damp clothes was just awful.
I used to love going camping as a child. We had a trailer tent for a while a few years back, then we got a caravan which I absolutely loved. We do have a tent which my adult child use but I have only been brave enough to camp in that in the garden!
