I used to use the old AOL chat back in the day and wasn't looking for a partner.

I was just having chats to people when someone sent me a PM. I answered it and we started talking, and I've been with the wife for 15 years since that chat!

Gone are the days were people can meet in the pubs/nightclubs anymore because people just don't go to them now.

Yes - currently pregnant and engaged (meant to have been married during lockdown) to a man I met on a dating app 3 years ago.. I had downloaded the app and had been on it for 24 hours when I started talking to him.. deleted the app within 3 days and we met after 2 weeks of talking, he moved in a couple of months later

Yep, (the site is no longer running). Friends set me up, lots of text/emails then met and never looked back, we have same sense of humour which is great and been together 5 years - I couldn't be happier.

My friend did. They got married, had a child, separated as a couple but still live together. It's such a romantic story.

Not me, but my brother met his partner through a dating app several years ago now. My brother has since gone on to adopt her youngest son & they are extremely happy together, she fits into our family really well. They were supposed to get married in June but have post poned for next year now.

Not a dating site but a chat thing (a bit like facebook but before that became the norm) moved 100 miles to be with him and had 3 kids

For every happy story of successful online dating there will be 100s that are bad, sleazy or unpleasant. Lies about age, lifestyle, experience, job etc are rife and most are after just one thing and praying on people's insecurities.

Yes, I do speak from experience way back and feel it is even worse now. Most are just sex markets.
