I have always had the Morphy Richards slow cooker, the 4.3 litre is the perfect size for us. This is the one I have :- www.amazon.co.uk/Morphy-Richards-Cooker-460012-Slowcooker/dp/B07B6MZW9F?th=1

B & M currently have the Sear and Slow 3 1/2 ltr for only £20. I bought one a few years back when they had them for £15 and have found it really useful. On the other hand, I have had and used the Morphy Richards 6 1/2 ltr for many years, and it is still going strong, Drawbacks are that the ceramic inner is really heavy and must not be immersed in water! Great for bulk cooking, though, and you can cook two meat suet puddings in one session.

99% of slow cookers do the same job, buy the cheapest one for size you need. 1-2L is perfect for one person. 3L is good for one person batch cooking, and 6L is a good family size for batch cooking.

You can cook just about anything in them

They are absolutely fantastic and very versatile. There are many many recipes all over the internet and free ebooks on Amazon too. Plus they can make cooking easier and cheaper than conventional cooking methods.

If possible try getting a “sear & stew” type as they are extra versatile. Sear meat/veg on a hob then straight into the slow cooker for the remaining cooking. I personally have this one for sale on Amazon:

I use mine very often and have had the same one for many years. I recommend buying the biggest you can afford, once you get the hang of it you'll need a great capacity. And ... This is important buy one that can go into the oven also, beware of lids with a plastic handle... It will melt in a regular oven.

They are great mines old it has a pot that you sear food in before you actually use. It’s great as you only use one pot and really easy and cheap to use.

Couldn't tell you what brand ours is and use it all the time. They all do the same thing so brand isn't important. Its the size that matters. We have a 6L one, wouldn't want it any smaller. Depends how many people it is being used for, but the big one means you can batch cook.

Thanks for that, I usually cook for 3-4 but I do batch cook so going for the bigger one makes more sense. I am hopeful out tomorrow and can start looking.
