Do You Take Apple Cider Vinegar?

Other

I keep reading about the health benefits so I bought some.

It is supposedly helpful with lowering cholesterol, blood pressure, blood glucose, cleaning toxins from body, weight loss etc.

I have only had one lot so far (15mls in 300mps of water) and it is not pleasant but tbh honest if it lives up to the hype it is a small price to pay. Apparently you can add cinnamon and or lemon.

The one I bought is 'with mother' whatever that means!

Has anyone else taken it, had any good or bad results? I suffer from all the above ailments so am probably, stupidly, hoping for a miracle.

I get through a lot of cider vinegar but basically I use it for salad dressings, I make a simple dressing of olive oil, cider vinegar, lemon juice plus seasoning like pepper and salt etc. So I consume it that way, I don't think there is any other way I consume it. I'm not so keen on it for fish and chips preferring the standard malt vinegar. I only use refined cider vinegar I hate the stuff with the mother still in.

It did mention using in salad dressings which I will do when the warmer weather is here and I am in salad mode. I don't even know what 'mother' is but assumed it had to be good, something to do with the culture I suppose.

Lynibis Yes its the culture I guess the collection of cloudy bacteria in the vinegar that grows over time making the vinegar more acidic to the point where I personally would throw it out. The refined stable cider vinegar doesn't have this so it remains the same over time but some would argue less beneficial but really its the acidity of cider vinegar that is the main benefit. Our diets can be too alkaline as we don't eat as much decomposing off food as we used to which tends to be more acidic as it rots so cider vinegar helps restore some acidity to our diet which the body seems to need. It's a good way of having a more acidic diet without resorting to eating rotting food which is the more natural diet that many animals have.

By having cider vinegar with salad you basically help provide the acid that will break down the salad in your stomach so you can have the maximum benefit from all the nutrients and vitamins etc in that salad. So its a good time to have cider vinegar. Regular processed food we eat is very easy for the body to digest anyway.

BonzoBanana thanks for the info. I had read somewhere that diabetics especially can benefit from fermented food, pickles, sauerkraut etc.

BonzoBanana thanks for the heads up on the salad dressing as I won a triyit box and it included the OSU apple cider vinegar and i didn’t like the taste but as a dressing I probably will and I also know it’s good for us.

I think the mother is the friendly bacteria that’s why it’s cloudy.

I put 2tsp with my hot lemon water each morning. Only been using it for a month and my hair feels less dry and starting to lose weight.

That's great, a positive. Probably worth taking just for that. The article I read said the acid can damage teeth so something to be aware of but think I will use a straw as it will help avoid teeth and going straight down may not taste so bad lol.

Lynibis I drink it through a straw also just incase it ruins my teeth. Going to have adult blood test in a weeks time to see if anything changes. (I’ve got hypothyroidism and chronic kidney disease so have to have monthly blood tests)

I could not cope with the taste as it was awful. I had thought I would try the capsules as that would definitely be easier to stomach but have not got to purchasing them yet.

I need by blood pressure to go up but help with the rest sounds good unless it would lower my blood pressure when it's too low already 🤔

Afraid I can't help you there but do please find out before you try taking it. Not sure if good old Google can help or next time you need to speak to doc or nurse.

I rarely suffer from digestive disorders but yesterday I was in discomfort most of the day. I took the cider vinegar before my evening meal (as it advises before meals) and it was sometime later that I realised the indigestion had long gone. Was really surprised as I felt that something so acid would give you acid!

Ah that's a shame. Was he aware of things like blood pressure, cholesterol, beforehand as you wouldn't notice these things unless had a blood test. As it was £2.60 per bottle I will deffo try it until it is gone, and then review afterwards lol.

Make up some great vinaigrette’s with it. Go on you tube find out what to make and more uses.

I’ve only tried it by itself to help with acid indigestion. It’s suppose to help that. It doesn’t help much.

Lynibis just seen this chat now, you can take it in fresh orange juice or grapefruit juice, whatever kind you like and that disguises the taste and you are getting one of your five a day too. 2 teaspoons in a small glass first thing in the morning you can down it like a shot too with just a slight tang rather than glugging 300ml of yuck! Are you seeing any improvements with taking it?

Hi Emma, due to D2 any sort of fruit juice is a no no as there is so much sugar. I haven't taken it regularly and keep forgetting but will get to use more in salad dressings in warmer weather.
