Ban Multibuy Offers on Junk Food?

Ask a Question

Should we ban multi buy offers on junk food?

They are saying 3,000 hospital admissions every single day are due to obesity, so do you think banning the offers would help?

No we shouldn't fact is people need to learn to say no to themselves and get actually help and advice on there own eating habits I'm sick of this crap government making decisions on what I'm allowed to eat I'll eat what I want when I want it

I don't think that banning the offers would help at all. If someone is that way inclined, they'll just buy the junk at full price anyway.

Be better if they did Deals on healthy foods

Jerseydrew There are deals on healthy food, but some people just like eating crap, so that's what they buy.

The reason that we see a lot more deals on junk food is because they are good sellers and have a big profit margin.

TheChimp there is deals ofc but it is more expensive to eat healthily and it’s not as nice as junk.

Should we ban alcohol because of all the hospital admissions that I guarantee is a lot more than 3000, it's a choice/lifestyle

I think if you are obese and reliant on the state for benefits you should be partly paid in food giftcards and those gift cards exclude unhealthy foods and perhaps have a bonus if you select healthier foods, salads etc. However you could always buy stupid food in addition to this. It's difficult to get people to change their eating habits and for some its their main addiction, over-eating or eating high sugar or high fat foods. Perhaps we need to encourage fasting days more.

No.

Even junk food helps out people who are hungry and starving. I sometimes use the Big Mac coupon because it fills me up and work is easier once you've had a decent lunch.

I think it would be a good idea, there isn’t really a reason for the supermarkets to offer the deals on bulk items rather than one pack of whatever it is.

It encourages overeating and whilst i agree people do have to take responsibility for themselves it’s obvious that’s something a lot of us are not very good at.

I think a multi deal which includes junk food and health food would be best

Imnotcheap Somehow fake meat costs more than real meat. 🤣

I'd not even buy it if it was for £1. Well, I did once and the taste was awful.

Nice initiative to ban junk foods but we need to control yourself in purchasing from this

Time to offer fruit and veg at cost. Each supermarket can take a month at a time

It would be good if supermarkets had a higher margin on processed food and less on fresh food but unfortunately there is a lot more waste on fresh food so they have to increase the margin due to that. I think bananas and iceberg lettuce are often sold at a loss maybe because its in the basket of foods that are commonly compared for price. However iceberg lettuces are sold individually not by weight and the weight difference between supermarkets can be as much as 3x I reckon.

No, people are not always overweight due to overeating.

Yes. This is really required move by government. Would be good if implemented

PaulHuns It really should be optional, let people decide what they buy than be told by their big daddy.

Earlier today I had finished doing a job and I was hungry, so I drove to BK, ordered a meal and drank as much as I wanted (about 3 or 4 times). I know it's not healthy, but it's very affordable and fills me up so I don't mind.

Don't dictate what people should do as we know people end up doing the opposite.

It does amaze how unhealthy food is always on offer like crisps and chocolates but healthy foods such as food are hardly on offer and I think over priced.

Junk food shouldn't be eaten all the time but some people financially may not have a choice.

Possibly would it not be better if all good healthy food was readily available and cheaper and that manufacturers were banned from making and selling food with additives and preservatives, too much salt and sugar etc. in supermarkets.
