BBC Programmes Being Cancelled

Ask a Question

I saw in the news the BBC is cancelling a lot of programmes. One of my favourites Motherland being one. Are any of your favourites being axed?

TheChimp Definitely not safe. The episode with the woman selling eat seeds as a miracle cure for CFS was awful & should be removed completely. None of them asked for evidence to prove the claims she was making, just her profit margins which were disgusting tbh. Considering she said she suffered from CFS, I was shocked that she was comfortable with putting such a high price on something that is allegedly supposed to help people’s pain. Profiting from pain is a low anyway but that was just pure greed especially when preying on those who are vulnerable & willing to try/pay anything for some relief. It did a lot of damage to the CFS community & although they’ve added a statement now, the damage has already been done.

Saw that we can expect more shows like gladiators and the traitor which means i probably won’t renew my license fee.

I understand things have gone up in price but then they send so many people to cover things like the olympics and football events. Is there really a need to have like 50 different pundits all there. I’m sure the last olympics there was close to 1000 sent over.

jms19 they also pay people like Gary Linekar so much when they could literally get anyone to present match of the day and would still get the same number of viewers.

Baffling decisions are being made constantly

Can't say that I had heard about this. I don't watch that much on the BBC, we have been watching Gladiators as my husband and I watched it when we were kids and have really enjoyed the new reboot. Have to say I never enjoyed Motherland, so I won't miss it personally, but there will be lots who will.

MrsCraig I absolutely love Gladiators, I got very carried away during the last series. Favourite part has to be the Eliminator for me and favourite Gladiator is Giant.

I never watch BBC or Live TV.

Currently, watching the live action series of One Piece and it's superb. Also, Shōgun is amazing.

There is huge waste at the BBC and some of the License fee is used to pay for a pension shortfall. They can't seem to do anything efficiently. Less and less of the License fee is being used to make actual programming. However I don't have a license and if I want to watch anything on the BBC I watch it at my mother's house who is only a 4 minute walk away. The only thing I seem to watch on the BBC is 'Impossible' and 'the wheel'.

Is the BBC still running? Nah, not for me as I dont watch It. You can get other good things from competitors better. Youtube Is my favourite channel. You would be surprised what you can get on there.

BBC Telly does our head's in. Their opinion is all one way. Plus I do understand what a worrying state the planet is in but every program it gets shoved down your throat. Puts you off watching anything on their.

I hadn't heard about this happening, tend to only watch dramas on the BBC anyway.

There are so many ways to watch these days, what with the usual channels, sky channels, streaming services I doubt that viewing figures warrant continuing to make some of the programmes.

I find it very hard to find anything worth watching as comedies, soaps and reality shows are food for the masses. Until we expect more we will get less.

I am considering stopping my tv licence as I am not getting value for money. Nearly every company gives some sort of small discount for direct debit payment but not the BBC, I pay slightly more for that honour!

They would save millions if they cancelled sport with all the overpaid commentators.
