Bbq Food Inspiration?

Already been enjoying the bbq season. But seem to stick to same things. Burger/sausages/chicken, kebabs. Looking for some tried and tested different food people cook on theirs.

I’ve had sardines before and they were nice. Otherwise usual fare as you have listed. Pineapple and corn on cob for sides. What else is there?

JLouM I've never really tried fish on it before. As for what else is there, that's what I was hoping to find out, as feel it's always the same.

vixe80 I think it is always the same though, it’s what’s expected. If you are looking for unusual exotic ideas check the free supermarket magazines. They are always promoting stuff in different ways to sell their products. I can’t be bothered with it though and am happy with the standard bbq.

JLouM I absolutely love sardines. Still waiting for fresh ones to be available in store and then I will be eating them regularly but not on a bbq.

JLouM ooh never thought of sardines! That really sounds delicious haha we have corn as a side too

Hardly have bbq can’t even remember the last time we had it probably few years ago

I’ve seen a fair few recipes for chicken wings which I plan to make this year. I like a filipino macaroni salad with my bbq

We do vegetables kebabs we put halloumi cheese on it as well and corn on the cob on ours.

Ribs are nice on the BBQ. Can either do a dry spice rub or a marinade. Yummy.

Prawns and pineapple skewers (tossed a a bit of soy sauce and chilli flakes)

I often do vegetable skewers too (mushrooms / tomatoes / peppers / onions / courgette)

BBQ fish is nice but can attract lots of flies.

Spatchcock a chicken, fish on papillote ( many different recipes online depending on your likes) taste amazing .

How about bbq chicken skewers or sticky chicken skewers, or even jacket potatoes on the bbq are nice.

For skewers i always marinade the chicken overnight in maybe a gentle curry rub - build up the skewer as normal but i also put pitta breads out so people can build a pitta with the skewers and salad etc.

vixe80 haha that’s so true! Good to ask for recipes as members on here have tried cooking it themselves!

It’s kinda annoying having to decide what foods to cook and eat everyday for lunch and dinner, without having to eat the same foods!
