What is the Best Way to Clean Black Spot Mouldy Net Curtains?

Ask a Question

I’ve tried leaving white vinegar on and wipe off but it hasn’t worked. It’s all along the bottom hem. Do you have a good method or product please? Any advice or recommendations appreciated. Thank you. 🙏

Bleach will kill mould better than vinegar although you have to take precautions for health and also not leave on too long to avoid damage. Then wash out and should be fine and spores dead. If any stain left put it a mix of water and hydrogen peroxide (3% solution is enough and safe). Will look new.

We tried everything to clean ours and nothing worked 🙁. Had to buy some new ones in the end, but they were a good price on eBay 🙂.

Cleaning black mould is one thing but you should address the cause of it first as you will end up with health problems.

You have to sort out the source of issue with dampness /mould. Does the wall has stains if yes then water penetrate from outside but if no stains on the wall the problem is the condensation. If latter then You may need to invest in dehumidifier. You may also consider pulling curtain away from wall or packing the rail out or investing in different rail which will keep curtains further away

SebK84 I think it’s condensation. My windows are ok but they are set in a wooden frame in structure of the building which is deteriorating. I’m not sure how to get it replaced.

I don't think anything works really, have you tried Vanish that's pretty good for stains

I would use some washing liquid on a sponge and make it foam up.
