Best Hoover

I had this choice for a cordless a year ago and chose Shark. We have a Dyson mains upright too. Any cordless isn't as powerful as a mains, so we use cordless during the week & big hoover once at the weekend. The big hoover always has stuff in the dustbox, so shows the benefit of keeping it. Shark & Dyson are so similar, it comes down to little features like LED's on the shark head (didn't think they'd matter, but they are really handy), the folding main tube is handy for going under furniture too. Dyson have copied some good shark features. One important factor many ignore- can vouch for awesome customer service from shark; I've had a free new battery (lost capacity) after 18 months & DIL had a complete new hoover when the touch control panel on their 2½yr old cordless became unresponsive. On paper, shark suction was slightly better on trigger (turbo) mode & we find using the extra suction 50% of the time for cat hair.

Thanks for the comment, I think you may have convinced me to get a corded one, cordless ones are handy for doing the car etc , but you don't need to hoover the car every day, thanks again.

I used to have a Dyson but changed to a liftaway shark. Best buy ever made.

Can lift away the drum and hose to do the stairs and car etc, flip from flooring settings on the handle. Won’t go back to Dyson!

We now have a Shark too, fantastic hoover, brilliant for cleaning up after our two cats especially when they are shedding their winter coats!

My guild hoover I find is better than any of the others

I love my Miele Vacuum. Great suction and German Engineered. Each to their own.

I have had Dyson vacuum ages for years now. First the corded one and then the cordless. I am a real fan of Dyson and have no problems cleaning, mine is powerful and so easy to use as I have arthritis.

I always had a Henry hoover and then changed to Dyson cordless but in last yr I changed to a hoover that can hoover r hoover and steam mop floors at same time. Must say I love it cos I’ve fibro and arthritis in my spine and found by time I’d hoovered my floors I was too sore to mop them. This has solved that and I wouldn’t be without it. Can’t remember the name but will let you know when hoover and steam clean my floors tomorrow

I have a Dyson battery hover but I don’t use it anymore I always use my Henry hover with a airo brush attachment my son has a battery Henry and he says it’s ok for hovering when there’s not much to hover

I had a Dyson cordless and it ba rely lasted 2 years, switched to a corded Shark liftaway and never looked back, great hoover and good customer service.

I have a shark anti hair wrap one, blooming useless, anti hair wrap my big toe. I've given up with it now and am using one of my mums G-tech ones. Almost looks like a carpet sweeper but is mighty powerful and doesn't get all hair wrapped in it like shark does.

I have to say some of the old vacuum cleaners are much better, you used to get 3000W vacuums and now I think you are only allowed up to 900W with most around 700-750W and if they have a powered brush head that has a motor of 100W that comes off the main suction motor. Admittedly some of the old vacuums made a lot of noise but their suction was amazing. If you are considering a bagged vacuum remember you have to pay for those bags throughout its life which can be a sizeable chunk of money over the years. Also bagged cleaners lose suction as the bag fills and this seems a much greater issue with modern low wattage vacuums. The only bagged vacuum I like is the Henry as it seems to have re-usable bags available and you can just get two and wash one while using the other.

I'm personally not into cordless vacuums as their suction is weaker and you have to remember to recharge them and its wasteful of power and time and the battery packs only have so many charge cycles before capacity drops plus there is a small fire risk with lithium ion batteries.
