Best Supermarket for Own Brands?
Ask a Question
Which supermarket do you think has the best own brands?
I like Aldis stuff but do get a lot from Asda too.
My favourites are Lidl and then Aldi. Tesco own brands are good too. I don't shop in Asda for groceries anymore, just for clothing.
We currently go to Lidl a lot. I'm not a fan of their frozen stuff, but everything else has been great.
I think its a bit random which is best with all the supermarkets having both good and bad items under their own brands. I'm more interested in the value brands. I personally find Lidl and Aldi the worst and least consistent for stuff like tinned sardines or tuna. I personally find a lot of supermarket branded items the same and as they often price match each other like baked beans its really down to whether I have a voucher or not. Recently I've had £12 off £60 Sainsburys vouchers so that worked out cheaper. I wish Iceland and Farmfoods had more of their own brands the thing I resent most is lack of own brands so you can't buy a lot of stuff in Iceland or Farmfoods due to pricing.
Aldi and Lidl both are great supermarkets with lots of good reasonable prices for own brands all the foods tastes good Tesco is the same too and Sainsbury’s but can be more pricey
Waitrose essential baked beans are really good better that some of the top brands. And their parmigiana
Many of the Tesco own brands are decent and good value, it does depend on the product as some are a lot better than others!
I prefer Morrisons.I like their pasta sauce which goes well with any veggie dish I dream up.
I shop tesco mostly, really like their stuff at decent prices though in term of own brand lidl probably has the most dupes at decent prices
Go to Aldi , find certain things there are better value especially super 6 but not always , go Sainsbury’s first, stop at Aldi then onto M&S..
I do like Coop’s for quality although they can be more expensive than the other supermarkets. Depending on the product I buy mainly from Lidl, Aldi, Asda and Sainsbury’s and I
occasionally go to Morrison’s and Tesco but they’re further away. It’s definitely a try it and see rather than assume. I avoid Morrisons own quiches but their chutneys and cooking sauces are very nice.
Asda korma cooking sauce is just like sharwoods.
I agree i think Aldi’s own brand is probably the most consistent, lidl’s on the other hand is really hit or miss for me.
