Book help needed!
Ask a Question
Hey all soo I'm stuck with books!
Please share which are your best reads of which I need to go for next! Any help would be hugely appreciated!
You need to give more info. What genre do you like, favourite authors, set in what era?
My choices would all be historical but not many like them. Currently reading Peter Gibbons set of 5 books about the Saxons/Vikings set in the 900s.
NicoleC94 do you have a kindle? You used to have a large free selection on there but not sure if it's still the case. Some books only 99p. I would recommend Barbara Erskine, she writes time slip stuff, person in present getting involved in the life of a person from way back. Search Lady of Hay.
A story spanning centuries. A long awaited revenge.
In London, journalist Jo Clifford plans to debunk the belief in past-lives in a hard-hitting magazine piece. But her scepticism is shaken when a hypnotist forces her to relive the experiences of Matilda, Lady of Hay, a noblewoman during the reign of King John.
She learns of Matilda's unhappy marriage, her love for the handsome Richard de Clare, and the brutal death threats handed out by King John, before it becomes clear that Jo’s past and present are inevitably entwined. She realises that eight hundred years on, Matilda’s story of secret passion and unspeakable treachery is about to repeat itself…
Barbara Erskine’s iconic debut novel still delights generations of readers thirty years after its first publication
It depends what genre you are wanting to read and what your budget is per book. There is a brilliant book called The Paperboy, about the troubles in Northern Ireland, but that might not be your type of thing.
The Midnight Library is really good, I reason enjoyed it and got stuck in quickly. TW, depression, suicide
You may well be best 'plugging in' to book club recommendations (like "Richard and Judy", "Guardian literature", "Amazon first reads" to see what's around. If you like action/adventure the Mark Dawson books are easy reads; for thoughtful materials try the Frederick Bachman novels.
