Brenda Blethyn Quits Vera . Will You Miss the Series ?

Ah that's a shame. I love a bit of Vera. They've filmed a few times in my area & have seen the crew regularly on the coast during filming. I'm a big fan of Shetland too, also written by Ann Cleeves.

Sad, but understandable. At 78 she deserves to put her feet up, can't blame her for that!

It’s a good series with no razzle dazzle and down to earth investigations.

I will miss it. As I have gotten older I find my taste for series that are too graphic with too much violence and borderline pawn has waned significantly. Not that I have ever liked all that but you can't escape it. I find my tolerance very low these days and have recently been watching far more gentle series like Lewis, Endeavour, Vera and this week several Poirot episodes. In fact I am downloading from series 1 so they will keep me busy. I will watch Vera to the end but I certainly don't blame her for quitting as I was amazed to find she is 78 years old.

Must admit I never watched it but my Granny and mother in law love it and my parents watch it too so they will miss it.

Let's face it they will need to shelve any new episodes of Vera. Brenda Blethyn is Vera and I for one could not accept watching anyone else playing the role. I hate it when they change actress/actor, I'm afraid I become too comfortable connecting specific people with their characters and refuse to put up with them changing things up when there are so many other choices to watch.

I've never watched it, seen ads for it but it's not my cup of tea, last TV police series I watched was Frost

I’ve just started watching the last detective on uk tv play Peter Davidson as Dangerous Davies ,it’s years old never seen it before but I like it

I have never watched this drama, may have to find it and binge watch it, sounds good.

I was chatting with some ladies yesterday and this subject came up. One lady said she doesn't watch it as she can't stand Vera's voice/accent. I found this strange but then I realised I feel exactly the same about the new presenter's voice on This Morning!
